Started off badly when the sure to win GALOPIN DES CHAMPS tripped over its off fore at the last, so didn't even get the Money back as Cash for 2nd, never mind the WIN
but then e/w bets on MILL GREEN 33/1 and THIRD WIND 25/1 put me ahead
took advantage of SKY CLUB BOOST on ALLAHO 4/5 (I never bet Odds-on normally, but that offer was too good to miss)
Late bet on FLOORING PORTER when it was on offer @ 5/1 with e/w steals on THYME HILL and CHAMP
ew bet on SPIRITOFTHEGAMES covered loser on THE GLANCING QUEEN.... my other CHELTENHAM SPECIALIST outsider COOLE CODY I didn't back for once
LOVE ENVOI (my NAPS TABLE nap) ew @12/1 (wed. night) and NURSE SUSAN e/w @20/1

Did you go by helicopter, because that was a really cool way to arrive, and also miss the massive queue of traffic, at going home time. Although I can remember getting stranded one year, as the pilots werent allowed to fly in the dark, and we had to get a taxi to Wiltshire. The boss used to take Cheltenham very seriously. There were usually 20 people invited to the box each day. They were able to drink anything they wanted all day free of charge. We never ever managed to eat all the food provided, again free to the guests. There was a waitress service. The boss obviously footed the bill, and it came to a few quid.
We were the first company to sponsor The Queen Mother Champion Chase. I think the cost of this was around £350k per year, and we did it for 3 or 5 years. The box cost £20k per day, for the 3/4 days, excluding food and drink. Between 3 and 6 helicopters at £10k each per day.
On the punting front, I fondly remember 2003. I went to Cheltenham on the Tuesday, and won £7,500 after backing Back to Front, Azertyuiop, and a big priced Roster Booster. I banked the £7k, and lost the £500 during my day off at Corals Mumbles on Wednesday. On Thursday I was travelling back to Portugal, I studied a bit of form on the way to the airport before phoning my wife to get me a bet on. I did a £100 roll up on Baracouda, Best Mate, Kingscliff, and La Landiere. Another £7k. The only problem was my wife had the ticket.
The other memorable one for me was 2006. The boss had been going on about Noland for months, and wouldnt hear of it getting beaten. I had a grand each way at 9/1. It came from out of the clouds, luckily I hadnt ripped my ticket up, I had just deposited it on the ground nearby. When I watch the replays, I still dont think he is going to get there.
I guess what I really want to know is .. where's your dough going for the Gold Cup? Tough one for me but I think I'm going to have to throw a bit at A Plus Tard e/w. Couple of free bets on Minella Indo as well.

I'm on GALVIN ......I always like strong stayers in the Gold Cup. Tho' I've always been a big fan of PROTEKTORAT, so I'm on that e/w 5 places with SKY. My Dad says A PLUS TARD too for what it's worth.
I'm also hoping Gordon Elliott is going to have a GOOD Day ....... some of his horses haven't quite run as well as expected ..... but fingers crossed he's saved his best for the last day
