Who won what, Friday 18th March. This is what a Results Thread would look like if HAYSIE wrote it.

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 160,171

Afternoon.

Before we get started, Results Threads for the next 10 days may be a little short on wordy stuff, though maybe that's not a bad thing.
Starting today I have company until Thursday as Gill will be here, so I can't really spend all day tip tip tapping on the lappie, it's not fair on her. Then on Thursday as soon as she departs I head off down to Brighton for the SPT, not back home until the Monday night. So if they are more succinct than usual, even Lite version on some days, I hope you'll understand.

For a little balance, today's report is a bit of a War & Peace affair, as I have more time than is usually case today, having had a bit of a temporary re-organisation of how I allocate my time. I mean, seriously, when we are having fun & life is good there's not enough hours in the day. With a little more time at hand, I actually enjoyed writing today's thread of almost tome proportions, which is not always the case. I'm confident it will keep you glued to your laptop for the next 20 minutes.

    £1,000 Bounty Hunter @ 1830 (£1,215)

markymoore got the evening off to a fine start, winning his first ever featured MTT. Needs to be seen in context though, as he is very much a single tabler.

We've covered this ground before, but perhaps worth repeating views on single/multi-tabling are very polarised. For me, if I could only one-table online, I'd not bother, as I'd get too bored. For many though, the thought of multi-tabling is an anathema. And there's no in-between. I struggle to even 1 table in Live poker - in the WSOP, for example, the levels are 1 & 2 hours long, & I often found myself going off for a wander to chat & chill every half hour or so.

And to show the gulf in thinking, one of the most common complaints to Customer Care, & we've seen it on the Forum many times too - is complaints from single tablers about "bots" - typically they will say "I saw a player on FOUR DIFFERENT TABLES AT THE SAME TIME, sort it out Sky, it's wrong to allow bots". And yet we all know for sure that many of you multi-table, most usually between 3 & 6, but some of the hardcore boys never have less than 10 or 12. Mr FeelGroggy often has 25 on the go during Promos, & guys like, say, Melty or DTM (when he was still here) do or did the same.

It's true to say that we all have an optimum table count. For sure, our efficiency declines if we play too many or not enough - we all recognize that. Less is more, more is less & all that stuff eh?

It's all about personal preferences, & both ends of the spectrum are completely fine.

    7 at 7 Bounty Hunter (£798)

AldosSnow only hit my radar quite recently, but seems to be progressing nicely, this was their second 7 @ 7 win in six nights, in itself quite an achievement. Won an Avenger Mini for £800 last month too (best ever result), plus a sprinkling of £500 BH's & the like.

    £1,000 Rebuy B/Hunter (£1,200)

splashies took this, & I notice he has won Mega three times since early February. Good player & a smashing bloke, but you know that already, as he features so often in these reports.

It's sometimes difficult to find fresh things to say about serial winners. That may be lack of creative thinking by me, writer's block, or perhaps after so long it's just hard to find new things to say. I've now done over 1,000 consecutive Results Thread since I last missed one, which was during my last trip to Vegas in 2019. Deduct the "Lite" versions (results only, waffle-free) during SPTs etc, & it's still an awful lot, so perhaps that's my excuse. I'm always ready to hear suggestions about how to freshen them up, make them better, so don't be shy.

In 5th was the extra sharp spearsy136. Was also 5th in the 8pm £500 BH. Did you know that (if we assumed Sharky was accurate, & to be fair, it's only a guide) he has made £36,000 profit over a 12,000 game sample size, & with an ABI of £6.11 he has an average profit of £2.92. Think about that, every time he spends ~£6, he gets ~£9 back (on average). That is mightily impressive, or it is to me. If I could do that I'd be on site 24/7.

£6,000 Big Weekend Bounty Hunter (£6,000)

Very disappointing to see a chunky lump of overlay in this, especially as last week it made £7,400, & the previous week £6,500. Sure, this week is the nut worst week in the payday week cycle, but even so it was a poor show. Even Avenger Main only came in bang on the g'tee number, so not a great night. Lots of reasons for that, some of which you will know, others not so much. In the last month Sky Poker has had both it's busiest day in 12 months, & it's quietest day in 12 months. When I had a proper job, running companies for the late John Kirkland before I retired ("retired", ha, I sure made a mess of that), he did not like to see spikes in turnover or profit. "Give me a smooth graph every tome Tony, I don't like surprises". Hard to do that in Online Poker though, we are at the vagaries of so many things. Some are within the control of the business (software springs to mind...) some not so much. It will always be so. For sure, it's gonna be a testing Summer. Regulatory changes (the Gambling Review), increased emphasis on Responsible Gaming stuff, mandatory Deposit Limits on some or all demographs, Online Poker has plenty of challenges ahead, but opportunities too. Time to gird the loins, whatever that means.

Anyway, after that waffle overload, it was dakky who was the main beneficiary of that overlay, so I guess he won't be mithering too much about the bad number. Remarkably, it was his eighth 4 figure cash in the last two years, the best of which was £2,900 during the Boomlet. Not too many can boast numbers that good.

The FT was about what you'd expect in a £100-er, populated mostly by regular big-hitters.

Doooobsy was runner-up. I don't know what plans he has for Vegas this year but he rarely misses (pre-COVID) & we've shared some wonderful times there, especially at O8 tables in both the WSOP & Downtown at places like Golden Nugget. Very very good O8 player. Be great if he qualified via Sky Poker for the SPT, but I would not be surprised if he showed up anyway. Hope so, anyway.

    £500 Bounty Hunter @ 1930 (£500)

Taximan was at the front of the rank here, not a frequent inhabitant of the winners enclosure but had plenty of near-misses, especially in 7 @ 7.

In 5th was Allan23, another, like Spearsy136 who makes an astounding ROI. These guys just go about their business quietly, never causing any fuss or bother & very low-maintenance. We really should not take these guys for granted, & I hope we don't.

    £8,000 Avenger Rebuy B/Hunter (£8,000)

The Avenger biggie went to Rstinson97, not his first Main event win either, as I recall him winning a Sharpshooter last Autumn as well as a Gold Rush earlier, & has won most of the featured MTT's here. This also completed the Avenger double for him, as he took the Mini version last summer too.

Good night for FlynTimber, 5th in the BWBH & 4th here. Has a good back catalogue too, winning a Summit & 3rd for close to £3,000 in a UKOPS Main.

    £4,000 Mini Avenger Rebuy B/Hunter (£4,175)

ColinDent dinked the Mini, then followed up later by booking his Brighton seat. My apologies to Mr Dent but he won 3 seats to a Manchester SPT in early 2020 - the last pre-COVID one - but I don't recall meeting him. £1,500 Sheriff Bounty Hunter (£1,500)

The best result ever for Nooblafish was all the way back in 2016 when he won a seat into an SPT Las Vegas Final. Since then he's been largely absent, until springing into action big time in the last week - this was his second Sheriff win in 5 nights, as well as 2nd in a Main & 4th in a Summit. Maybe we'll see more of him now.

Palace Bloke was runner-up, as well as 6th in the Avenger Main.

    £1,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter (£1,260)

Perhaps I don't take much pleasing (perhaps?...) but it was good to see BBMike mixing it with the Big Boys & taking Turbo. He's invisible on Sharky so I can't bore you with his stats but I'm sure he does very nicely for himself. Someone - was it :@waller02 perhaps? - once described him as erudite, though maybe sagacious works better. There you go Ryan, go google that.

Shrimpy, who annoyed me greatly the previous day by winning again, was a poor 6th, which pleased me no end. I swear, if he wins once more my head will explode.

FFS. I'm sure he only does it to annoy me. More seriously, well done the Shrimpage. Any chance we might yet see you in Brighton?

The Swogster had a frustrating hour, 6th in both Quickdraw & MidEx. Barely enough to pay both his window cleaners. He did run 5th in the Elim Fr though. Next stop, 4th in something.

Quick mention for Team Orfordable, ably marshalled as always by one of our unsung Forum crew @SidV79

    SPT Brighton Semi

cgull won his second seat, mumsie & ColinDent their first.

No disrespect to the other two, but I high-fived the laptop when I saw mumsie had qualified. Lives on the South Coast so not too far to travel, and to those who get confused by that gender naming thing we discussed the other day, mumsie is a bloke named Charlie. He's one of a little band of regulars who help the Forum in ways most of you never see. He built the Daily Forum Comp spreadsheet for me, and he replaces it every time I break it, which is frequently. The Daily Forum Comp averages 50 entries per day, 365 days per year & without that Spready I could not run it. Helps in other ways too, generally as a sort of FAQ bloke who answers complicated stuff on the Forum I can't manage. Chuffed to bits to be meeting him at last. PS - bring some spare copies of the Spready please, I've used all the spare ones.

He was not that old, surely?

PS - I'm likely being whooshed here....
