This is only going to apply if you run online losses into 1000s , it was mentioned losses of £100 a month but that was shot down cuz if you think about it if you lost £3,40 a day you would be means tested which is absurd and not practical also it says it's only going to apply to online gambling so there is nothing to stop people nipping down the bookies and sticking big bets on with no checks which kinda defeats the object Blokes like me who stick a tenner on a week will have no issues and will carry on as normal it's problematic punters ,which there are plenty it is an addiction afterall, who will get the checks which i totally agree with
I rarely though sometimes have lost more then £100 in a single day gambling.
I am profitable and only deposit once on a site then that is it. I wager hundreds a day when fully active and this will soon become thousands. Though in fairness this is small amounts been wagered over and over again. Eg if I do 20 sit and goes at $5 each etc make a small profit of say $10 and go again etc.

Am I likely to be at risk from this?
Only if you're depositing hundreds every day and losing then you will be means tested that's if these reconmmendations are implemented

It will never work. People will just open more accounts. Once they have reached the limit in one account, they will use a different one. Or use cash in the bookies. People with a problem are usually very innovative, and determined.
I used to gamble more than I should have in my younger days, although I would never have admitted that it was a problem. I think that the first step to addressing a problem like this, is to admit that it is a problem, something that many people are reluctant to do.
Many people in this country take the view that anyone suffering from an addiction, is their own fault.
People with a gambling addiction need help, rather than restrictions that will not work.

Agree with your last point 100%. The reality is though that the very same help is often unavailable through lack of funding.
The ADDSIS programme which successfully enabled me to control an alcohol addiction and had an almost 80% success rate within Staffordshire for alcohol and drug dependency rehab was closed down because the funding was needed elsewhere.
The answer is I feel a radical one which not many would subscribe to but a levvy of 5% on the industries of both gambling and alcoholic beverages should be implemented and used to fund such services. The same for the pharmaceutical industry.
The issue is that these are probably amongst the 3 biggest revenue earners for the Government so it's kind of a turkeys vote for Christmas thing really.
I used to think that alcoholism was a self inflicted problem, then one day I woke up to realise that I was a person with an illness and needed help. I was extremely lucky in that I received that help and am here to hopefully support and assist others.
Many aren't so lucky and have lives filled with anguish, broken families, poverty and often stripped of any remaining dignity or self worth use the last resort to escape the torment.

We will be millionaires by this time next year, Rodney.

All it needs is an antiquated Harrison timepiece, a room full of rich bidders and boom. Show Me The Money. lol.
