I know we will never agree on this one.

Thought I would share a memory of the late, great and seriously bonkers Peter Langan. Langan's Brasseries used to be owned by him and Michael Caine.

1 of his restaurants was close to where I (and he) used to live-Coggeshall. Whenever someone made a reservation, he took their phone number.

If they didn't show up, he would ring them at 2 a.m, to enquire whether it was ok to let his staff go home yet :)

I remember reading numerous stories about him in my much younger days.

    Marina O’Loughlin reviews Langan’s Mayfair

And its tales of Irish hellraiser Peter Langan, notorious and mercurial in his crumpled cream suits and correspondent shoes, one minute insulting Princess Margaret and falling asleep under tables, the next, as AA Gill told us, being discovered by a waiter “eating a lady guest on the bar”.
