So a week after being stopped from exercising by my GP I get a call this morning from Muscular Skeletal at the Royal Stoke to inform me that they are scheduling an appointment to decide on the best course of action regarding my spine.
During the conversation the guy mentions that he has noticed that I am also under the Cardiology, Urology and Diabetes units. My reply is "Yes and they all pretty much encourage me to exercise as much as possible so right now they aren't happy"
There then followed series of Q and A about my exercise regime which resulted in a list of can do and mustn't do until after MSK have seen me.
So I can get back on my stationary bike, I can do cardio vascular with the exception of rowing. I can hike with a lightweight under 5Kg pack, swim and use steppers and stairmasters etc.
I can't Climb or scramble, row, or lift weights. I can't skirmish, I can't train impact or combat sports and I am not supposed to play any racket sports or anything where a swing is required or there is a chance of contact ie 5 a side.
I asked why I had been stopped and the guy said he had no idea and that certainly the non or low impact stuff was never an issue.
So there it is, thanks to the well meant but incorrect advice of a GP at my practice I have sat sedentary and rusting for a week, when I was already trying to recover the fitness levels lost to illness the previous fortnight. So by the time the final table is settling in for battle at SPT Glasgow I should just about be back at the levels I was at on April 1st.
So tonight is watch the match, play a little poker, what's app a mate, GO TO THE GYM.
Brilliant, I'm buzzing
