Vegas like everything else getting more expensive?

bert21bert21 Member Posts: 177
I have booked for Las Vegas again in June ( my 11th visit) I tend to play a lot at the Golden Nugget Grand Series but have noticed the daily comps have gone from $150 to $200 this year and the Seniors comp from $250 to $400 so at least $500 extra for the 8 comps I intend to play there. Dare say Taxi, food and drink prices and gone up dramatically as well. Is Vegas becoming out of reach for the small punter?

It's definitely becoming out of reach for the small tournament punter.

In recent years I can think of ten or more strip poker rooms that have stopped running cheap ($40 and up) tournaments.

The only ones that I can see that still run for under $100 are Ballys and Sahara.

I can't comment on food and drink prices as I haven't been over since March 2020. Would definitely recommend Uber over Vegas taxis though.

We usually go over in the spring, but are ticking off our WSOP box and going on the 27th May this year.

Orleans are also running a Summer Series throughout June if you fancy a change of venue.

    Good luck over there.

Thanks Edrich , usually wonder over to the Orleans a couple of times when i'm there, like the place. Tend to play the 11.00am and 7.00pm so spend the day there. Last time I went 9 of us split for $900 each at 6.50pm so we could enter the night one on time.

Do you find Uber much cheaper? have thought in the past to open an account with them. Might not be worth it this year as we are stopping at the Nugget and will play at least 4 comps there. Before this we normally stop off the strip at the Tuscany and would catch taxis several times a day

In my experience Uber are a lot cheaper and take you direct to your destination.

Unlike the Vegas taxis that like to take you up the freeway, and around the houses if they can get away with it.

This far outweighs the slightly more obscure pick up/drop off points that the hotels insist on for Ubers.

Just returned from Vegas. Stayed at South Point where they have $60 tournaments, with guarantees of £3k (always exceeded). Also hold 3 weekly $150 tourneys with £15k guarantee (again exceeded). Need to be careful with Uber's as prices on app does not include booking fee. Found taxi prices similar to last time there (early 2020). Room rates and resort fees higher though.

Sue and I have just returned from Vegas and can confirm prices are on the up for everything except the "cocktails" delivered to your tables/chairs when you're gambling. Vegas is currently booming and we were surprized how busy it was, and this was reflected in the cost of Ubers, which were way higher than 3 years ago; and the usual long queues of taxis outside hotels where never seen.

Buy-ins are up, as well as the rakes, but so are the prize pools, with even the lunchtime events having $1k up top.

    Enjoy your trips everyone.
