Rebellious Twitter staff claim new owner Elon Musk is 'dangerous for democracy' and hysterical left-wing social media personalities threaten to QUIT amid claims Trump will be allowed back on the app after $44bn takeover
Elon Musk's $44billion takeover of Twitter has sparked a rebellion among liberal employees and an outbreak of hysteria among left-leaning social media personalities - amid mounting speculation over what will happen to the Silicon Valley tech giant. The Tesla founder said he wanted to reestablish the principle of free speech on the platform and has criticised its moderation policies for disproportionately targeting conservative voices, but his critics claimed he would allow 'hate to flourish'. The deal is set to be completed in six months, with staff told their jobs are only guaranteed up to that point but 'no layoffs are planned' at the social media platform, which is highly influential among media circles despite having a smaller user base than Facebook. British actress Jameela Jamil led the charge of celebrities announcing they would abandon Twitter after Musk's purchase, declaring that she would no longer be tweeting because his 'free speech bid' would end in 'lawless hate, bigotry and misogyny'. Rob Reiner, star of 1970s sitcom All In The Family, said he feared 'criminal' Mr Trump would now have his account reactivated, although the former president has ruled out a return and says he will stay on his own 'TRUTH Social' platform. Meanwhile, employees bombarded the site and internal message boards with attacks on the controversial tycoon, and raised fears they would now be forced to stop working from home under the new regime. Among those whining about the takeover was software engineer Addison Howenstine, who tweeted using asterisks to make the post harder to search
The vile racist Tommy Robinson signed up again overnight & was peddling his usual hate speech but from what I can see he jumped the gun and has now been banned again.
I suppose Mr Musk's "post what you like" policy will mean Tommy will soon be allowed back though. Sad times.
Worth noting though, while Mr Musk promises "free speech for all", the laws of the land in many countries, including the UK, make hate speech illegal, so Musk's plan is not as straightforward as he might hope.
I'm not anti-Musk incidentally, far from it, but I don't think vile racists like Robinson should be allowed to spout their obscene & offensive nonsense.
In the most recent moment that was sure to generate memes across the internet, Trump fumbled over the name of his new release, calling it: "Troth – Truth Central".
Obviously, people took to Twitter to comment on the blunder, although Trump is still banned from the platform so he probably won't see the onslaught of memes.

Another added: "trump forgot the name of his own social media platform in Ohio this weekend he bungled the name of Truth Social, calling it "Truth Central" instead. He also messed up the pronunciation of "drop box" too, calling them "drok boxes."
