Cinderella cast were FIRED 'minutes before going on stage': Actors slam Andrew Lloyd-Webber after new cast set to join the musical discovered they'd been sacked via Twitter
West End impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber has been accused of effectively firing the current cast of his Cinderella show minutes before they went on stage last night. Britain's theatre industry have railed against the composer, 74, on Twitter and Instagram for allegedly 'bragging about a Broadway run' of the beleaguered musical while announcing that it will close on June 12 - less than a year after it officially opened. Deadline reported that current cast members were told the show was being axed just minutes before going onstage at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London's Covent Garden. Future cast members have claimed that they only learned of its cancellation via social media. And announcing its closure in the West End, Lloyd Webber - whose musical hits include The Phantom Of The Opera, Cats and Jesus Christ Superstar - said that he intends to launch the musical in Broadway instead, with previews for the show beginning in February next year.
