£1,000 Bounty Hunter (£1,000)

Brizee makes his thread debut with a £1k BH victory. Low volume, mostly early evening player, seems to be his best ever result.

Runner-up bert21 does well in this, with a 1st, 2nd, 2nd & 5th so far this year, as well as a Mini win.

zzgoose, MIA for 10 days, made his return & single-tabled his way to 5th.

My definition of a clever poker player is one who finds a buy-in level he can beat, sticks to it rigidly, & (I very much hope) does not give away half his profits to a backer. I've no idea if Allan23 is backed or not but it would surprise me if he were. Absolutely prints at these stakes. Responsible gambling at it's best.

tomgoodun, who I suspect prefers PLO8 over NLH was 2nd, with AFFMAHEED, who I have a shrewd idea is a Scot, in 5th.

    £4,000 Gold Rush (£5,250)

roytheboy7, twice a Mega winner, and also has a Reload on his CV, took last night's Main for perhaps his best ever result on Sky Poker. I do often wonder if it's the "real" Roy the Boy - Roy Brindley - but somehow I doubt it.

2nd was wineli, with DREWETT, who won a Sunday Major earlier this year, in 3rd.

These days charman930 plays the Mini, & only the Mini, nothing else, & after a few near misses was rewarded with the win last night. If we rewind a few years, used to play bigger stuff, & had some very good results, including a win in the £6k BH.

    £1,000 Mega Stack B/Hunter (£1,060)

Win doubles seem to be in fashion right now, & Mean Machine jumped on the bandwagon last night with a win double of Mega & MidEx. Just for fun, he had another double too - 2nd in both Turbo & Quickdraw. 2 x 1st, 2 x 2nd suggests he might just turn out to be decent.

I really dont see the point in getting backed unless they are offering something substantial in addition to backing eg coaching.

Which to be fair a lot of backing does. I know some people offer coaching for profit share but I would really hesitate to do this because I dont think they could increase my win rate enough to pay for giving that much of my profit away.

Depending on the white paper due to come out people may be forced to get backing but I dont think so I think they would just be forced to the black market or to give up entirely if super strict affordability checks stopped them playing.

Like would a site ever accept I am been backed by so and so who is staking me as evidence to pass an affordability check?

the only circumstances backing makes sense in my opinion is if your playing very high variance games such as spin and goes (more specifically ultra or speed spin and goes) or large field MTTS. Sky does not have large enough fields for me to worry about significant variance and thus backing.

I ran really well last night and a few people probably went top bed cursing me. I was ever so unlucky in one respect though as the player who was busy giving me some lessons on a few things I did wrong in a hand managed to get bust before he had a chance to properly explain.
