Curious ruling at the WSOP?

If you were one of the two players who were involved, would you be happy with this ruling?

    That's mad.

The hand could have been ruled dead.
The hand could have been reversed to the extent that all post-flop actions were removed, and then hand continued.

I prefer option 1. But either is better than what actually happened.

With action having taken place i like the idea of just playing out the hand

People have acted out of turn.

Due to the fault of the dealer, rather than a player. Because bets have been placed while only part of the flop has come down. Plus an exposed card. Which was not apparent at the time of the bets.

Don't think there is a "good" answer. Just a selection of bad ones.

Bound to be disagreements as to which one is the least "bad" :)

Nobody could have moaned if they had left the flop as it was.
I wouldnt have a clue what the rulebook says.
    Sometimes common sense should prevail.

The bigger question that nobody answers is.....how do you know cards are 'burned' from an online deck?

Oh, oh, tin hats on everyone. Alan has chucked the pin and still holds the grenade.

On the OP. How can that not be ruled dead, action has taken place with a flop that has then been altered.

On a serious note, and without wishing to fall down that particular rabbit hole.

The burn card is there live to stop cheating. Both via card marking, and the fact that it is often possible for the dealer to know what the top card is.

Whereas online, disregarding all the stuff about online RNGs etc, the burn card would have no effect.

...and that is exactly why you get so many straight flushes on line. If they started to burn a card before flop, turn and river.....the outcomes would be different.
