Unelected Lords have complained about the food and drink served in Parliament with one moaning that they are served 'too much smoked salmon'. Over the past three years taxpayers have subsidised the exclusive Westminster bars and restaurants to the tune of £25million but members of the House of Lords have revealed their anger over the quality of food.
One peer said: "There are only so many smoked salmon or prawn and crayfish salads one can take week after week. Both the Chardonnay and the Sauvignon Blanc are really poor quality... Can something be done?"
Another complained about the "limited range" of pre-packaged sandwiches which they described as "very disappointing". A third peer asked: "Could the sandwiches be presented on a plate with a bit of salad rather than in cardboard?”
The letters, obtained by investigative website openDemocracy, were sent over a three year period by unelected peers. While members of the House of Lords don't get a salary they can claim £323 for every day they attend parliament.
One peer wrote a letter complaining that there was no longer an option for granary bread and asking why there was "so much lettuce" in sandwiches. Another wrote that they found “very little to eat other than a box of 2 pre-packed salads”.
The bars in parliament are significantly cheaper than elsewhere in Central London. In the Parliament bar, Strangers', you can get a Jorvik Flaxon Blonde Ale or a Davenports Gold Ale for a cool £3.55. Carlsberg costs just £3.70, while the priciest drinks come in the form of Stella Artois, Guinness, and Noble English Craft Lager at £4.10.

Very much 1st World problemers types like this.
"Attend" is probably an exaggeration.
All they have to do in order to claim this money is sign in.
Some of them sign in with a cab ticking over outside, and leave immediately after signing in.
