£30000-£35000 Kitchen porter Job!!

DoublemeDoubleme Member Posts: 2,150
So as some people may know working my way through degree to better myself not got the best jobs recently. I was at a warehouse job I did not like then went to work in a kitchen. I preferred the kitchen for a number of reasons but mainly the houses. In this kitchen most people work 3 days a week not 5 but it is 10-14 hour shifts. I prefer that getting all the work out of the way in three days and having four days off. Different people have different preferences etc.

Anyway the warehouse pulled me back by offering me more money then I got fed up of a few things and tried to go back to the kitchen, I spoke to a guy there who offered me a wage and tip share that I could have sworn has to be mistaken!. basically all adds up to between £30000-£35000 on 3 days a week working as a kitchen porter!!!!!

I then found out the snag this was not the old restaurant I worked at they now have an executive chef standards have gone way up and the work is real intense much more so then last time.

I will say this if they are expecting me to work like I have been for what I was been paid last time not worth it. If they are actually going to pay me the figure I was presented though for 3 days work a week then yes absolutely.

Is this possible do KPS get this in some places? Note I dont think they would lie to me just maybe they got figures wrong or made a mistake it can happen.

No I wont say where but it is a real high end restaurant.

thanks for that but I have done KP work enough times, I am familiar with the general wage which is usually min wage or if your lucky a tiny bit more. Turns out the figure was higher as they told me the wrong figure for tips but Its still in excess of the figure @HAYSIE quoted.

I think its just because I worked there before and they know I am a very good/hard worker. I guess I do this for the summer or longer depending on how I think it will impact my studies. There is an old guy there who works as a KP but he is so slow I don't know whats up with that as this very past paced. Although they are very good at attention to detail so they alright for deep cleaning which is more a thing now. Its weird working with @HAYSIE but he seems alright. Just focus on the deep cleaning bits and leave the rest to me when we on together ok haysie.
