Here is what I commented on the "conspiracy thread:-
13 states intend to introduce the following:-
1. Abortion to be banned from inception, including the morning after pill 2. The only exemption will be to save the health or life of the mother 3. It will not be permissible to seek abortion on so-called "lesser" grounds. Such as Rape or Incest.
There are all sorts of sensible restrictions that can be sought before abortion.
But no-the USA has decided that returning to the 17th Century is the way to go. Thought the days of backstreet abortions was gone.
And it has. In civilised countries.
The more progressive states, such as New York and California, will never introduce this sort of legislation. Whereas the "god-fearing" fundamentalist ones will.
The ironic thing is this. You know the sort of people who bang on about the evils of Sharia Law taking over this country?
The Christian Fundamentalist equivalent has just been imposed on large parts of America.
This is the very hypocrisy that pi55es me off with the "God fearing Bible belt".
God gave us free will, Christianity is supposed to be about presenting an argument for a point of view, and allowing people to choose whether or not they wish to believe that the point of view has validity.
Imposition of this is to my mind, playing God.
As a Christian do I believe in abortion? No. The same as I don't believe in Capital punishment. But I also believe I have no right to foist that opinion on another.
Do I understand why it's sometimes the best option ? Yes. Absolutely and those who advocate the banning of abortion have probably never faced a situation where that might be the case.
Do I know anybody who has had a termination ? Yes. Both a friend and a family member.
Do I think any less of them ? No. Both have and always will retain my full love and support.
‘Proud’ Donald Trump Jr boasts his father and ‘God’ overturned Roe v Wade
Donald Trump Jr. @DonaldJTrumpJr Proud of my father for what he has accomplished today.
He gave our movement 3 strong pro-life Supreme Court Justices and despite the Dems and the leftwing media doing everything they could to stop their confirmations, especially with Kavanaugh, he never wavered!!!
Politically, it does all seem rather strange. As lots of people appear to be on the wrong side.
Right Wing Libertarians have been campaigning for years on a platform very much centering on the right of individual liberty in preference to the State telling them how to live their lives. And yet campaign for the right for the state to prevent individuals having freedom of choice. Strange.
Religions that might be viewed as rather more socially conservative on this issue would primarily be the Southern Baptists and Catholic church. Whose leaders certainly are on the pro-Republican side on matters such as this.
Southern Baptist Presidents? 2. Carter, and Clinton. Both Democrats. Catholic Presidents? 2. Kennedy & Biden. Both Democrats.
Many recent Presidents might favour an individual Church (as in the 1 building), but deliberately avoid being dragged into the leadership positions of the wider individual Church. Like, for example, Obama & Trump.
People keep in their own corners, throwing rocks. While ignoring the difficulties the "leaders" face.
Biden is traditionally Catholic in certain respects. His love of Ireland. His distrust of the UK. And yet he feels able to speak out in favour of the pro-choice position.
Similarly, Trump. He has wrestled with the position on abortion for many years. It is abundantly clear to me that he (unlike other Republicans) is deeply uncomfortable with latest developments. His public and private pronouncements are very different.
What kind of messed in the head 4rsoles permit the sale and carrying in public of guns but bans a womans right to terminate a pregnancy ?
Land of the free ? Only if you want to purchase weapons.
Home of the Brave ? Not if you're an American politician.
Give it another 50 years and the Middle East will be invading the U.S. to liberate its people from a brutal regime
The US is definitely not a free country and are quite the bullies. Children are essentially indoctrinated with the stars and stripes from the off while their "leaders" are likely more dodgy than our shambles of a Government.
At least in some other countries the citizens are not lied to constantly. The World is a scary place and I shake my head in despair sometimes - should really stick in my own lane and shut my eyes and ears.
I struggle to see why, in the 21st Century, people still feel entitled to impose their life choices on others.
Yet another horrible story, which is exacerbated by the fact that the law differs from state to state.
The variation of Laws is not key here.
If only I could think of another example of a federation. Where certain key laws are universal. But where the individual states were free to have variations on everything else...

According to a text message Deborah Dorbert received from the coordinator at a maternal fetal medicine office that she visits often, the specialist made his determination after having legal administrators “look at the new law and the way it’s written”, the Washington Post reported.
“It’s horribly written,” the message added.
Despite the specialist telling the couple that other states had fewer restrictions on abortion access, the Dorberts told the Post that they were overwhelmed by travel costs and had only left their state a few times.
