Demonising these "landlords" is, quite simply, unfair.
There are all sorts of reasons why this sort of arrangement may not work out.
This is not a proper landlord & tenant arrangement with, for example, an Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement (or similar), nor is a commercial rent being paid.
That property is probably worth £300,000-350,000. Open market rent? Probably over £1,500 p.m. Not the £350 p.m the Government is paying. And that is before expenses. It has mentioned the "free" broadband (which, presumably, the Landlord is paying. The gas? The electric? There were 9 of them living there.
That property used to belong to the wife's father, who has only recently died. They live next door. Must be something of a cultural shock, 9 people living next door now.
People assume that economic migrants are all nice people. Whereas, in reality, they are the same cross-section of humanity as everyone else. Most good, some not so much. Most we get on with, some not so much.
There are always reasons behind this sort of thing. Some fair, some not so much. I don't know why they wanted them out. But it happens. All the time.
For whatever reason, a family decided to be more generous than I would ever be. And then reverted to being no more generous than I would be. Or the vast majority of us, come to that.
No reason to publish details of a serving Navy Officer and his family.
