why does absolutely everything want a review these days?

So recently me and my girlfriend had to purchase a new mattress the old one was on its way out etc.

So we went to a bed store to purchase a new mattress we didn't need a new frame the frame is really good, anyway guy sees us right away is friendly and etc and manages to get me to spend 24.24% more then what I was planning on spending. I guess a good salesmen managed to get same day delivery so all that good etc. however why does this need a review? we were there for like 45 minutes purchased the mattress and had it delivered within an hour. No complaints cant say anything bad but why do they need a review now?

Its ridiculous like these days if you stop by the local off licence to buy a pint of milk they will want a review. I swear its going to get to the point where you give a begger a sandwich and a fiver and he asks you to leave a review on his begging.

The reason behind this is fairly simple.

The majority of people don't leave a review. But the ones that do, tend to be the reviews these people want.

If, say, a mark of 5 is brilliant, and 1 dreadful, the vast majority of 2/3/4s have better things to do with their lives than leave a review. Whereas most 5s and 1s do. And those are the ones they want.

They want to hear how good or bad a Salesman is. Not the acceptable, or competent. The top and bottom of the pile. And how good or bad the product, and the Customer service is.

To reward the exceptional. And investigate the complaints.

I never leave a Review unless I think something needs saying in relation to something exceptional or dire.

It annoys me when you want to leave a scathing review and yet 0 is not an option.

Had this recently with Evri, formerly Hermes, following shocking service and was contacted by their local office to enquire why I had only rated them 1 out of 5.

"Because you wisely have no option to rate you zero", was my response.

Got a full refund and replacement on the items in question.
