Ok, so have the chance to invite any 5 players to a 6 max game of Texas No Limit Hold Em. These players can either be retired, active, dead, live players or online phenoms. ONE MUST BE BRITISH.

You would be staked the £50k buy in so think big, this is your once in a lifetime poker story.

I'd have the following,

Stu Unger - probably one of the most naturally gifted players ever

Phil Helmuth - gotta have Phil just for entertainment value

Dave Ulliot - not everybody's cup of tea but a personal favourite

Vicki Corren - first 2 time EPT winner, clever, witty, funny and somebody to get the cerebal juices flowing.

Joe McKeehan - 2015 Main Event winner and just somebody I'd love to play.

Could've had many more but these would be my 5.

Lets see I am playing for a lot of money that could change my life who cares about the story I want the most easy to beat field of all time.

Now I had a narcissistic grandma who is dead now and was very nasty and selfish, I would choose her but from the time when She had dementia and was struggling to even remember her mum and dads name from way back.

I would then probably select that guy who I used to work with who was a very nice guy but had learning disabilities He was not dyslexic or anything like that it was specifically stated he just had a very low IQ he was a nice guy just very simple.

I remember Nikki from big brother she seemed like a nice person but very simple again so I would select her.

I would have thought David Beckham I am pretty sure I could out play him at poker he did not seem the smartest but then he may be able to read people somewhat and sport trickery can relate to poker so Whilst I think I could take him i would probably go for a likely easier target.

I have three so far, so I need to find two more lets see there was that really simple kid I knew from school way back who had down Syndrome he was a very nice kid but obviously was not to bright. I would choose him for easy match up.

and finally I think i would go with Sarah Palin.

In order for this not to seem exploitive I am assuming all the other players are staked as well by some TV network or something.

My generic point is £50,000 would be a lot of money to me I dont know if this is tournament structure or cash but either way I would want to find the most dullard people I could find for a much easier win.

If I had millions then sure I might select differently I would probably select Michael Jordan, Matt Dillahunty, the guy from the channel darkmatter2525 you know people that interest me but then all three of those people are highly intelligent people Are they good at poker I dont know but I would want to play people who lack the ability to think for an easy win unless the money did not matter to me.

Erm ok well Mr Me it was supposed to be poker players and no they are not staked, just you. It's your one chance to sit with any 5 players from history with no pressure and to revel in the high roller feeling.

However if using it to provide some carthesis is what floats your boat then as they say, "It's your party".

It would be similar to my friend St Mark in

    Ungar

    Ulliot

    Helmuth

    But with;

Scotty Nguyen after several 'cocktail baby'

Hevad Khan on redbull, to ensure rants, banter and bad feeling along with myself.

Not alot of handshakes on busting out here and would provide me with stories galore :D

Im pretty sure id win f all, but the experience would be priceless.

    Interesting question.

I think a table with 5 Tikays from different periods of his poker life would be pretty cool.

Other than that, I'm not too sure, because I don't follow much live poker. And only know of the usual names that have been around for yonks.

I'd certainly be interested in hearing what @Tikay10 chosen five would be.

    Hi Dazzy.

I've not forgotten this, but I'm struggling to narrow it down to 5 players.

I started to compile a list & rather surprisingly, I noticed there were 5 on the list who are no longer with us, including Devilfish, Dave "el blondie" Colclough, Rastafish, & Mad Marty Wilson.

I could also compile 5 opponents who were subsequently convicted of murder, & another 5 who were the Top 5 "nippers" in UK poker. And I could easily muster a table of 5 scammers, and another table of players who subsequently were sent to prison for a variety of offences. (Two were sentenced to 20 years, so we are not talking shoplifting here). I might even be able to list 5 paedos, starting with Amarillo Slim.

I'll try & come up with a list though. Basically, the people I most enjoy sharing tables with are like-minded friends & acquaintances, interesting people. With these sorts, you just throw a leading question at them & let the conversation flow. It's so important to be able to listen, rather than dominate the convo.

Would take Hellmuth as I don't rate him.
Jungleman as he is good for the game.
Ninja, I know he isn't strictly a poker player, but loved the Hellmuth suckout so much. If he is disqualified, Wesley Fei, he just loves the game.
Vicky Coren because she is lovely and we need to balance this.
Someone like akanemsko because we don't need the same old **** and need new blood. Maybe Maria Ho here, for similar reasons

Actually just get Joey Ingram in over Hellmuth, we need to move forward and sell the game.

Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Antonio Esfandiari, Mad Marty (because I miss having a drink up the bar in Vegas) Liv Boeree for the view, in case things are not going well in the game for me, would really appreciate if she agreed to play in the nude as well

Thanks for the reply, @Tikay10 . Don't worry about whittling it down further, unless you really want to, of course. I'd likely not even know most of them. It's those little poker back stories and titbits you share, that I always love reading.

Your last paragraph, though, I very much agree with. I'd say IRL I am more of a listener than a talker, and it helps immensely if people are talking about subjects that interest you.

There's nothing worse than being in one of those awkward scenarios you often see on episodes of Come Dine With me when everyone is bickering or not knowing what to say around the dining table :D
