I've always been fascinated by this subject whether it be Orson Welles's original radio broadcast in 1938

The 1953 film.

Or the 1978 Musical version.

Last night I watched on Sky Arts a live concert version, I was getting in to it when I noticed that the conductor wasn't ELO's Jeff Lynne! It was only after a 'Google' search that I realised for the last 40+ years I had actually thought it was Jeff Lynne and not Jeff Wayne whose musical it was. Even though it states quite clearly on the Album what Jeff it is I still believed it was Jeff Lynne's album.

My brother and I listened to the album many times growing up, Richard Burton’s deep melodious narration a perfect casting. A few years ago we went to the 02 to see the live version which was excellent. There was also the Tom Cruise film version .
