This is a very sad case. My initial reactions are these:-

1. As an outsider, my view is that his parents are misguided. They are going to Court after Court, desperately trying to stop Medical Professionals carrying out the Medical Advice that life support should be withdrawn
2. I can sit here and say what they are doing is misguided. But I am pretty sure I would be doing exactly what they are doing on their position. Because, like most parents, I am perfectly willing to suspend logic if it means 1 of my kids has a chance of life (however small)

These cases always cost £Millions. It's not just the Lawyers-the cost of the army of medical specialists, both in fees and in taking them away from treating other people in similar situations, is massive. People remember that the taxpayer funds 1 side, but it is NHS Budgets that ultimately fund the other side.

And-all too often-these poor parents end up spending time they should spend grieving being weighed down by a fight that they are unlikely to win.

Absolutely heart-wrenching. Eventually though pragmatism has to take precedence over emotions.

    So so sad.

    This is just horrible.
I can barely look at his little face.
The whole thing has been exacerbated by offers of treatment elsewhere.
Any parent would surely wish to exhaust all opportunities of any possible treatment, in the hope for a miracle.

And all stemming from a stupid tik tok challenge,if any good at all can come out of this tragic event is that youngsters get to know the dangers of following such challenges. Perhaps the media should be broadcasting more of the dangers of these so called challenges,as I for one didn't know how many different 'Challenges' there were on social media. A quick Google search reveals numerous child deaths linked to these on-line challenges, why are these media companies continuing to allow these challenges to be posted.

The dangerous TikTok dares putting young lives at risk: As Archie Battersbee's mother believes one game left him close to death - and others have been killed, why can't the social media giant block all the 'challenge' videos behind such misery?

TikTok has taken the social media world by storm since its global launch in 2017, allowing users to share short bursts of content that range from innocent dance routines to perilous challenges. There is no more poignant and terrifying example of what can happen than the case of 12-year-old Archie Battersbee, who was declared brain dead after collapsing at home and has been the subject of a fierce legal battle over whether to switch off his life support. His mother Hollie believes her son may have been trying the so-called 'blackout' challenge shortly before he was found unconscious.

We hope no family has to go through what we have been through': Archie Battersbee's family say 12-year-old's death was 'barbaric' as group calls for 'urgent review and reform' after schoolboy's case

The schoolboy passed away in hospital at 12.15pm yesterday surrounded by his family after his life-support treatment was withdrawn at 10am. The fiancée of Archie's eldest brother Tom, Ella Rose Carter, said: 'There is absolutely nothing dignified about watching a family member or a child suffocate. We hope no family has to go through what we have been through. It's barbaric.' It came as the Christian Legal Centre, a group that has been supporting Archie's family, offered its condolences and called for an 'urgent review and reform'.
