Reg or Rec what's the real difference ?

I sometimes get a little confused by the terminology used here, not the actual definition but more how it's arrived at.

Is there an algorithm that decides or is it based on ROI, number of games played, frequency of play or a combination of factors. for example when I played almost every 1am and 2am freezeout for nearly I year would I be considered a reg or as I played about 10 -12 other tourneys each week would that make me a rec?

Just curious as to what peoples perceptions are.

I always thought a reg was someone who plays regularly is quite competent/good and takes the game seriously a rec is someone who play regularly plays for fun and doesn't get wound up by beats and hopes to win a bit of money occasionally
    Edit: I'm definitely a rec

I'd say it's a mix of style of play and volume, with the former more important in the definition. Results might be part of the definition, but cash game results aren't often visible and sharkscope ratings and results can be skewed by a luck factor.

If a player is open raising a consistent size from each position, 3betting and cbetting with a reasonable size and freq, they are a reg by my definition. They just might be a bad reg like me.

Open limping, checking a lot and moaning about the site being rigged gain an immediate rec colour code.

There are a lot of different types of recs and regs and I colour code them accordingly and take notes.

I think a reg is a competent winning player who generally plays and sticks to certain pools. A rec is somebody who plays for entertainment more than making money.
