It suddenly occurred to me this morning that I listed Craig as joint 2nd & Winston (wineli) as the winner, which is sort of correct.
However, Craig won the trophy so one could also argue that he was the winner. In technical terms, I'm not really sure who the real winner was. Great to see a Sky Poker 1-2 though. And while many of you know Craig quite well, wineli is less well known, but let me tell you, he's a great bloke, a good loser, & very importantly, a great winner too.
No disrespect was intended, but it did just cross my mind.
It stings for 10 minutes & then you just get on with it Phil. In my world, (& I'm sure yours too) it's part of what makes a poker player, being able to take days like that without whingeing, bellyaching & finger-pointing. Bad losers do my head in.
I'm a modest man with good reason, but going back with that chip stack and my super risk-averse style I put myself at 100% to make the money, unless I got the wrong end of Big on Big, Aces v Kings sort of thing. I dusted off almost 50,000 very first hand, (had to fold, was not shown) 10,000 the next hand (I opened with JsQs & got shown K-K). Then followed 3 hours without any spots, & my stack just bleeding off. Then I found the Aces - & got walked.
One of those days. But even though it's important to take adversity like a grown-up does not mean it did not hurt for a few minutes afterwards.
But I had such a terrific weekend, so many birthday wishes, they made a proper fuss of me, rounds of applause, a cake with candles, everyone singing Happy Birthday & folks coming up to me all weekend wishing me well. I'm not like that these days, it's the last thing I want, I've gone "dark" & just want to get on with what's left of my life quietly. But I must admit, it was **** lovely.
Oh, I got a text from Orford, he never misses my birthday.
"Well done mate, you've outlasted The Queen".
Now that maybe WAS a bit too soon, lol.
Incidentally, Orford has a proper full-time job now, he is the Continuity Manager at NBC Universal. Quite a decent gig by the sound of it. He tells me he's over 50 now & it's the first proper 9 to 5 job he's ever had. Top, top, bloke.
Well done all players that cashed, especially Craig, you have put the work in and now getting the rewards. Very unluck on the finishing run in Tony, sure more wins will turn up for you on the Hendon mob list.
Just wanted to say well done to all the Sky players who made the final table and especially Craig for taking it down. Thanks to @Tikay10 and @SkyJames for organising another brilliantly run SPT stop, and thanks to all the Sky regs who make the event what it is. Had a great time and put faces to many Sky regs, shame you all make me feel sooo old (obviously that bit doesn’t apply to @Tikay10) Already looking forward to next one!!!!

Did I hear you are now being sponsored by Aero?
Too soon?
It was clear from your blog you loved these events, this is just the cherry on top now you have won one.
Thoroughly well deserved and testament to all the hard work you have put in over last few years.
Thanks also Tikay for enjoyable updates.
