7.5% Rake at micros is to **** high!

Poker stars rake is between 3.5% and 4.5% depending on the level. 4-5% is pretty much standard on all sites. 7.5% of the pot leaving the table every hand is crazy. The rake is always rounded up so in reality it is more than 7.5% at Sky! Spots that are +EV are now massively -EV due to the huge rake. If you are breaking even you are basically crushing the game circa 10bb/100. To turn a decent profit you have to win at 15-20BB/100.

Is there any reasoning to the high rake at micros? Is it to push people to play 0.10/0.20 where the rake goes back to 5%.

The guys at these stakes are generally terrible, they lose there money fast enough without having 7.5% blasted from them every hand they win :( . People who are aware of the rake adjust there play to be a lot tighter which makes the games a lot worse. It makes no sense. 7.5% rake is just to **** high!

Don't play the micros then. Easy enough it seems.

Hello next caller you're through to what's my moan.

Win rate after rake and rakeback is all that matters. The lowest raked games tend to be reg infested.

Imo You should pay a set fee to sit at micro poker table, like a tourney fee. Say 20p for a 2£ buy in, or 40p for a 4£ buy in, each time you rebuy it should halved and reduced towards 0 each rebuy.

I think It would encourage people to stick around longer and play with a full stack. It would make micro cash games more enjoyable if tables never broke quickly.

and no doubt it would be more profitable for the good players and hopefully help them rise up to mid stakes quicker, instead of being stuck in an endless cycle that seems to only benefit the house.

Yeah it’s a bit of rant but still valid. I can (most probly) beat the rake. But these stakes are obviously where the new players will be starting. A new player has no chance even beating the rake at these stakes. It seems the game is rigged for them before they start. Yet higher stakes enjoy less rake and more rake back.

I assume this is way most sites rake the micros less. To help the newbs and encourage them to keep playing. Lower rake is better for the ecosystem in general. Not this massive 7.5%+ every hand.

If one of my friends was just starting out in poker and asked me to suggest a site I wouldn’t mention Sky poker due to the insane rake at the micros. Go to PS where it starts off at 3.5% less than half! Or any other site where it will be less than 5. At least you have a chance of at least breaking even. Yes any half decent player can beat the rake at this level but a new player - no chance.

    Yea, its too high.

There must be a valid reason but we are not smart enough to understand this reason.

You're missing the most important part: quality of competition.
