For me, this goes too far the other way.

It is a given that the Police should attend far more often than currently. But every single time? Even when the homeowner knows who has done it (like a relative) or 50 pence was taken? Or that there are 30 burglaries on the same night and the Police already have the burglar in custody?

The Police are understaffed and underfunded. They are also expected to do a whole range of tasks that never used to be the Police's problem.

This commitment will lead to a reduction in resources in relation to other crimes. Because you can't get a quart out of a pint pot.

When Police Authorities attend meetings and are proud that their success rate in burglaries, car crime and assault are in the region of 30% I do struggle to understand what happens to the other 70%.

If I only please 30% of my clients when I was working I wouldn't have had much of a Practice.

At least make 100% the goal and try to get adequate funding and manpower to match.

Agree. Even if 100% is an impossible goal, no reason to accept 30%. Wouldn't even be that high if it wasn't for T-I-Cs

IMHO, the Default position should be to attend, unless there are sound reasons why not. But the minute Police Forces promise to attend 100% of Burglaries, then operational needs and resources have been replaced by the needs of Politicians.

Now if that were solve ...... but Hey! with no money in homes anymore and no money to buy things to put in homes, security cameras everywhere the kids sweetie jar is safe.
It's the fear, damage & the stress that sell Burglar alarms that keep the neighbours awake at night.
