    This shows the massive cultural difference between the US and the UK in relation to guns.

    In the UK the only police officers who are armed are specially trained. And used in particular high-risk places (such as airports) or in response to specific threats.

    In the US, we have a Probationary Policeman. Not trusted sufficiently yet to be a permanent member of the Police, while he is undergoing training. Yet "trusted" with a gun. And that is normal in the eyes of the Texas police.
