Good Bet

On Saturday evening there's UFC 280,
the top fights will all be pretty close so I thought I'd see if anyone has an opinion.

Petr Yan v Sean O'Malley will be interesting,
Yan is a great striker and smart fighter but the same could be said for O'Malley.
Yan is definitely elite but in a three round fight I don't think he has the time to figure out O'Malley.
O'Malley has height, reach and striking creativity so I think he'll surprise people.
There's a price boost on Sky, O'Malley TKO in Round 1 or 2 @ 7/1
which could happen but it may well go the distance either way.

Next is Aljamain Sterling v TJ Dillashaw, I don't know much about the fighters but they are both in amazing shape.
It's a 5 round fight so Sterling's wrestling may tire out Dillashaw and he instinctively takes the back,
so you can get Sterling to win in round 4 or 5 by Rear naked choke @ 40/1 which might be worth a quid.

The headline is Charles Oliveira v Islam Makachev, both have been steamrollering opponents,
but Oliveira has been fighting much better opposition.
He's a far better striker, so Makachev will take it to the ground but Oliveira has perfect BJJ.
The price boosts are Oliveira to win in round 1 or 2 @ 3/1
and Makachev to win by submission in round 3, 4 or 5 @ 8/1
both seem like believable scenarios.
Anyone have any thoughts?

I don't know enough about UFC to bet on it, but I do enjoy it, & I'm particularly keen on T J Dillashaw, so I'll be hoping he wins.

    Think this is called "ripped".....

Thanks for commenting Tikay, sometimes it feels like whistling in the dark...
This is Aljamain at weigh in I think both have trained like lunatics, it'll be an interesting fight!

    Crikey, ripped v ripped.

And yes, I know all about "whistling in the dark" as I do the Daily Results Thread. ;)

People DO read your stuff though, be assured.

Dillashaw is a drugs cheat has no place in any sport especially one where life's can be lost

Dillashaw is not the fighter he was 3/4 years ago and whilst the more romantic UFC fans may want him to win I'm hoping Aljamain takes him to school.

Think the "Main Event" is too close to call, it will be a great fight but one for keeping money in pocket.

Agree with the 7/1 for an O'Malley TKO in rnds 1 or 2. Great value and value is what we are after. Is there a max bet at the enhanced price.

I haven't noticed a max bet on that boost, but it's still a risky one.
Yan is a terminator and O'Malley may struggle to keep him at a distance.

I believe Yan will, and should be favourite. But O'Malley is a great price at 7/1 TKO in 1/2. Think it is the only likely way he can win.

Fancy Makachev in the Main-I think it could be over quite quickly.

    Hope Dillashaw gets whooped. Cheat.

yeah i cant wait for this one, nice time for UK fans too. I think Oliveira wins and 11/4 by submission is tempting for me..

ive seen yan and the sugar man fight a litttle and id like O'Malley to win. But Yan is a **** tank so its a big step up for him. If i remember right, Yan got pretty well handled in his last fight which i was surprised at. One preview i seen thinks O'Malley can win the first 2 rounds and survive for the 3rd round to win on points.

cant wait for the entire main card though!

It's a decent Main Card, but perhaps lacks the really big personality to make it an all-time great card.

What is exceptional is the Prelims. There are some cracking fights on there.
