gambling white paper, we are saved!!

DoublemeDoubleme Member Posts: 2,213
So, I call it like I see it or how I think it is for better or for worse. Rishi Sunuk has a history for intervening to try and save the Horse racing industry from gambling regulations that would kill it. however this affects everything else eg it would be quite odd to publish something that says you can only wager X a week unless its on horse racing then you can wager whatever you like.

Generally with Rishi in charge I don't think we have to worry about the white paper anymore.

Yes vegtarian not vegan. I did not know this but then I would expect it as the Hindu faith is not pro meat eater. One can be healthy on a vegetarian diet much easier than they could on a Vegan diet.

Hindus believe in reincarnation, and they believe humans could reincarnate as a Cow potentially or a chicken or a fish etc. So, if the Hindus are right when you have a beef burger you could be eating the carcass of a reincarnated relative.

Of course, I have made my views on religion more than clear, I think religion is dangerous and deluded. However, I also believe in freedom of speech and people having the freedom to live their life however they please, so long as they do not try to force that on others or infringe on other people's freedoms.

Should Rishi try to bring in legislation banning us from eating meat I will be very quick to denounce him and critique him for that.

If one believes in reincarnation, and can come back as an animal, could one come back as a horse perhaps?
I’m not ‘up to speed’ on the beliefs of the many religions, perhaps I should educate myself more.

It does seem to go against the grain for one who believes (as you say) one can be reincarnated as an animal, hence the vegetarian aspect, then try to “save the horse racing industry”

    Strange times we live in.

I have been warned that, if I don't improve my behaviour, there is a very real risk I may come back as me again ;)

Seriously, Rishi is irrelevant to all this. The country has major problems. The sort that mean nothing important on this is likely to happen before a next General Election.

I don't really know a lot about horse racing, I hear that the horses are mistreated maybe they are I do not know.

I am not advocating for or against horse racing though, I merely mentioned Rishi in regard to his position.

It may well be that some of Rishis ideas or positions are inconsistent with each other, this is certainly very common if not ubiquitous among people especially politicians.

My point was more that he looks to be a better choice for the white paper not that he was completely consistent with all his actions and beliefs.

I never really buy into the argument that because the country has major issues more important than this one that nothing will happen until that issue is dealt with. If I recall right when online gambling got banned in the united states it was tagged onto the end of an anti terrorist bill in the early hours.

If the government really were of the method right issue A is the most important issue nothing else can be done until we resolve issue A, then Issue B and etc government would get very little done.

Though I do think that you could be right as if Rishi wants to change the white paper it would be a lot of work not a simple task, and I guess things are not just completed due to the priority of them but also related is the work involved and the complexity of the issue.

If the gambling issue was something that could just be signed off In five minutes I think it might come out sooner but if they intend changes and lots more work you might well be right it might wait until the after the next election.

It would seem like sods law that when I am finally less worried about things that we then get truly hit hard.

Almost everything that was or is in the White Paper that pertains to poker has probably already been implemented by the more responsible UK-facing sites.

vegans dont have censorship powers here.

So does not work but if your just going to throw nonsense statements around I guess I could throw nonsense back if you want to put forward an argument I can respond to that.

Insulting you would be against tocs and would also be meaningless and not my go to method so instead I will use a silly insult for ridiculousness and to satire the nonsense of your post.

    you pineapple head.

99.9% of horses in horse racing are completely pampered. For them being in Horse Racing Stables is like staying at 5-star hotels for horses. Saunas, heat lamps, swimming pools, fed, watered, doing something interesting every day, and let out in fields for fresh air, and natural food to eat........ and then if thery'e good enough, sent to stud to **** 200+ different mares every Year........what a Life :)

They are bred to run (and jump). Very occasionally they meet with accidents on the racecourse sadly, but horses meet with accidents just being out in fields.

The problem (for the pampered horses) starts when the syndicates that pay for this luxury 5-star lifestyle, realise that their "project" is not going to make it big (the vast majority).
Do they continue to pay out £1000s a week or do they cut their losses and send it to the sales where the meatman will pick them up for around £50

Yeah i dont mean to be someone that worries all the time I think it is just in my DNA though.

I was worried about the gambling white paper, then it was nuclear war recently it has been about a term of the contract for my new job which I may in violation of (it relates to conflict of interest) I have contacted the company and mentioned this and this will be resolved shortly for better or for worse eg they tell me its fine or that unfortunately they cannot employ me etc. Then I will have nothing to worry about etc.

However before gambling white paper my anxietys were about keeping a job I hated then before that it was about an issue I cannot mention on a public forum all I will say about that is it involved the police and legal authorities I was not the direct victim nor the criminal/perpetrator but I was a witness that reported it and then was stupid about mentioning it to other people which resulted in me getting a lot of threats.

before that I was worrying about where I stood with my current girlfriend we were just dating at the time and I liked her a lot and I had anxiety about messing up or what was going on but that worked out.

Before that it was a family dispute I cannot go into details on here. and before that it was the crazy girl saga cant mention her name but I dated a girl who was completely not right for me.

I can go on, but I think most would rather I don't just suffice to say there will always be something for me to be anxious about.

I can even map out potential directions for my life from here and predict the next anxiety issues which will come with each different direction.
