there really is only one sensible play to make here but I will wait to see if Rishi can do it. Firstly we need to give the people at the economic bottom of the uk a break with more support and secondly we need to increase tax on the wealthy.
I know that may be controversial to some and to others they think this should be done until we effectively have communism.
However when people are struggling to pay live and having to eat thrown away food and choose between heating or food something needs to be done.
when we have huge debt and running at a large deficit something needs to be done the money has to come from somewhere and the poor are already close to the point of homelessness. So it has to come from the wealthy.
Time will tell if Rishi does the right thing but I think in all honesty we need a labour government right now.
Hope for Rishi as poll shows Labour lead tumbling after he became PM… but Keir Starmer is still far enough ahead for election landslide amid claims ministers are seeking £50BILLION of spending cuts and tax rises to fill black hole in finances
YouGov research carried out on Tuesday and Wednesday - as Rishi Sunak became premier and took his first PMQs - found Keir Starmer's party had a 28-point advantage. That is enough for a huge landslide at a general election - but down from the eye-watering 37 points recorded four days earlier when it was not clear who would take over from Liz Truss. Downing Street will be watching closely over the coming days for signs of a Tory revival after Ms Truss's disastrous 49 days at the helm. But the party faces more major headwinds as Mr Sunak and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt look for £50billion of public spending cuts and tax rises to help tackle the huge black hole in the nation's finances.

The Daily Mail, having backed the Tories on every single occasion when there is no Party even further to the Right, would say it in that way. Desperately trying to put a Spin on things. To favour a Party that is currently about as relevant as, er, newspapers.
That's really not much of a "bounce". The Tories up from diddly squat to approaching diddly, while Labour "plummet" while still having a Majority of all voters.
To put that into perspective, not only have Labour never got more than a 50% share of the vote in an election, neither have the Tories. And Rishi Sunak is, however good or bad he may be, always going to do better than the idiot Truss.
The last poll would relate to 500+ seats for Labour, and a record Majority of 350. The lead has "tumbled" so now Labour might "only" have a Majority of about 280. Still a record. It will be still lower when the Election is forced on the Tories. But still massive. And that is before the next round of cuts. Which, you may recall was promised on 31st October to calm the Markets. And now postponed yet again.
Guess what? Rishi Sunak is not interested in unifying the Country. Just his own Party. His Party slogan should not be "Unite or Die". It is "Avoid an Election or Die."
Because the Country is united in wanting a Government that matches its hopes and aspirations. And voting out the unelected person who replaced the unelected person that replaced the person that was last voted in.
I think there is a delicious irony in the Conservative Party being run by the 1922 Committee.
Because 1922 was the election where 1 of the former big 2 (the Liberals) ceased to be of relevance in terms of running this country. And has spent over 100 years trying, and failing, to be restored as a credible, electable Party to run this country.

Gary Glitter distances himself from the Conservative Party.
A clip of Rishi Sunak’s first week as PM was released this morning that appears to contain music from former singer and convicted sex predator, Gary Glitter, although he has been quick to distance himself from the party.
Glitter, 76, said, “I’m absolutely disgusted by this. I’ll stoop to standards not many will, but to be seen as endorsing the Conservative ideology is a step too far.
“Being associated with the Tory party has thoroughly tarnished my image. Even if the track isn’t actually Rock and Roll, Pt 2, it sounds an awful lot like it. It’s frankly embarrassing to have my work linked with Rishi and co.
“There are people on my special wing at the prison that won’t even look me in the eye today, and they’re well aware of the things I’ve done in the past. Endorsing the Tories is too much, even for nonces.”
Rishi Sunak U-turns and says he WILL attend Cop27 climate summit after ex-PM Boris Johnson revealed he will be going to event after being invited by Egyptian hosts
Rishi Sunak U-turned this morning and confirmed he will attend the Cop27 environmental conference in Egypt next week. The PM had initially indicated he would not travel to North Africa despite the UK hosting the previous event in Glasgow last year. The change came after Mr Sunak's predecessor Boris Johnson confirmed he would attend, having made the environment a key plank of his premiership. Writing on Twitter Mr Sunak said: 'There is no long-term prosperity without action on climate change. There is no energy security without investing in renewables. 'That is why I will attend Cop27 next week: to deliver on Glasgow's legacy of building a secure and sustainable future.'
I can't fix ALL your problems, Rishi Sunak warns Brits: PM gives first interview amid claims Council Tax is set to ROCKET - and confirms he REFUSED to step aside for Boris in Tory leadership race
The Prime Minister has said inflation is the 'number one enemy' as he vowed to rebuild trust in the Government following Liz Truss' 'sugar-rush during her short stint in No10. He added that he is doing everything he can to 'grip' the issue and limit rises in mortgage repayments. It comes as the Bank of England was forced to put up interest rates to curb rising prices, hiking its base rates by 0.75 percentage points to 3 per cent - their highest level in 15 years. Meanwhile, the PM also revealed that he told former leader Mr Johnson he would not step aside during crunch face-to-face talks, instead insisting that he was the 'best person for the job'. He said: 'It’s right we’re honest about the trade-offs we face — everyone now talks about borrowing, everyone appreciates that the government cannot do everything.'
