That is just rubbish. Yet again seeking to blame lots of things in Brexit. When it just is not true. No different from the people who witter on about the similarly non-existent "benefits".
Yes, there are expats who don't get the uplifts. In theory, this could include people who have emigrated to the EU. But it hasn't. The ones having the problems are people who have emigrated to countries outside the EU.
Yes, prices have gone up. Particularly energy prices. In the EU. As well as here. Yes, some EU countries have advantages. But not because they are in the EU. Because Companies like EDF (Electricite de France) still had the Country as the biggest shareholder. Not because they were in the EU.
What are the biggest real problems for the people saving for retirement today?
1. Final Salary Pension Schemes have gone from everywhere except where the Govt/Local Govt are the employer 2. Inflation plummeted in the last 25 years. Whereas the charges for Private Pensions stayed the same. Which meant profitability plummeted 3. Rules have been changed so that taxation on profits made by Pension schemes were introduced. The biggest of which was under Labour 4. Pensioners are living longer. Whole variety of reasons, from better diet, to advances in medicine, to the fact that the generation that actually fought in the World Wars no longer feature. Whereas life expectancy for people of working age is falling 5. Worker to Pensioner ratios are coming under pressure. Less and less Taxpayers are funding more and more Pensioners
These are the real problems. Not Brexit.
Which (as usual) is either blamed for all our ills or heralded as our great saviour. When it is neither.

TBH I didnt read it until after I posted it. I thought that at best they were grasping at straws.
Well I was going to say that this was the headline that sent me running to Remainers and begging forgiveness for voting to paralyse the UK and it's commercial activity. Forcing millions into destitution, poverty and a life of suffering.

But then I thought, it's the Guardian.
I suppose that there is a theme going on. Remainers can rightly absolve themselves of any blame, because they didnt vote to leave. Brexiteers on the other hand, were responsible, because they did. Yet they continue to con themselves, and try to con others into believing that there were some Brexit benefits. But find it impossible to come up with a real one, when asked. All this while ignoring the pain and suffering it has caused to some businesses, some people, parts of the country, and the economy. I have a clear conscience whichever paper I am reading. There is no doubt in my mind that the history books will show that it was a massive mistake.
Oh I forgot, we can now have wine in pint bottles. Silly me. Except I dont drink wine.
Actually Tony I have to take issue with you there.
The fault lies not with those who voted leave, but with the Governments inability to effectively deliver that.
One could also argue that if those who were campaigning to remain had actually warned of the disadvantages of leaving with a structured and focused campaign then maybe enough people who voted to leave would not have.
Remember the words of Dire Straits.
"When you point your finger 'cause your plans fell through" "There's three more fingers and they're pointing back at you"

I dont really think that any of our politicians gave much consideration to what was to happen after Brexit. The NI border is a good example of this. The extra costs, the checks, and mountains of paperwork, are others. We have done well controlling our borders, havent we. It was interesting to listen to Farage having a rant about Muslims the other day. He only used to rant about Romanians, when we had FoM. I suppose many of the racists that voted for Brexit, have been disappointed with the results, since FoM stopped.

Amidst escalating geopolitical tensions, calls resurface to urgently revisit Theresa May’s proposal for an EU-wide defence treaty, reigniting contentious Brexit debates and prompting renewed scrutiny in Brussels. Here’s the whole story.
