I get really bored with that plonker Farage always banging on about the imaginary Brexit of his dreams.
17.4 million-a small majority-voted to leave. They voted for "Britain" (which conveniently forgot that NI was not in Britain) to leave the EU.
What they most definitely did not do was give any mandate whatsoever as to exactly how we left, or on what terms.
To quote that idiot from the time, "Leave Means Leave". That is all it means. And to pretend otherwise, and for the constant claim that we have not got a "real" Brexit (whatever that is supposed to mean) is just plain wrong. We have "the Brexit we voted for"...

I couldnt agree more.
Apparently there is a bigger than ever majority that believe that it was a mistake. Many people believe it has been a disaster.
His solution to this is to try to make people believe that it is only a disaster because we got the wrong Brexit.
When in reality the choice was to Leave or Remain.
We Left, and this is what we have got.
A softer Brexit that would have caused less damage to our economy, was not a real Brexit.
I just hope that Mr Starmer can get immigration, and particularly the small boats under control, which I hope will put a huge dent in his popularity, and he will be forced to shut the f... up.
The graph within your article at 07:57 was particularly illuminating.
Between 2012 and 2020, net migration to the UK was almost always between 100,000 and 200,000, except for 1 year (2016) when it was 300,000. Net migration in the years 2022-24 was 2 million
A massive increase. Nothing to do with "illegal" migration, which remained largely constant. Nothing to do with Brexit. Everything to do with a 3 year period where May and (particularly) Johnson waved hundreds of thousands of "study" visas, together with masses of "dependants" which had never happened before.

The Leave voting xenophobes must be sick.
And before anyone picks me up on this, I do know that every Leave voter was not xenophobic, but all our xenophobes voted Leave.

I have to say that I am not an expert on anything, but this government is just as desperate as the last one to create some growth in our economy. The growth figures regularly quoted are fractions of 1%. Some experts are confident that Brexit reduced our GDP by around 5%. You would think that rejoining the EU would be the most obvious way to create some substantial growth. I dont really see how Labour can possibly ignore this option in the long term. How can we desperate for growth, and ignore what is probably the easiest option to create some.

Vicky Price was on Sky News yesterday, she claimed that the OBR have said that Leaving has reduced out GDP by 3% so far, which will increase by a further 4% over the next few years. They also interviewed another guy that owns a seafood business, who incredibly voted Leave. He claimed to have had a number of meetings with DEFRA, prior to the referendum. They assured him that his business would be unaffected, even though exports to France represented 50% of his turnover. He lost 50% of his business immediately after we left. Nothing has changed.
Voices: The Tories and Labour have been engaged in a conspiracy of silence over Brexit
So far, though, both the Conservatives and Labour have been engaged in a conspiracy of silence on the need to repair our broken relationship with Europe. Kemi Badenoch has finally admitted what has been obvious to us all for years: the Conservative government had no plan whatsoever for how to grow our economy after Brexit. She has had precious little to say about where the country should go next to fix the mess left by her party. Meanwhile, the Labour government has made positive noises about resetting the UK’s relationship with the EU but won’t even consider low-hanging fruit like a youth mobility scheme that would help young Brits live and work around the continent.
