Australian rugby league player who was banned for TWENTY YEARS for brushing against the referee fights to clear his name - even if it means going to the Supreme Court

A footy player banned for 20 years is willing to take the matter to the NSW Supreme Court as he fights to clear his name. Matthew Nean (pictured) was sent off in a 2016 rugby league grand final in Tamworth, in northeast NSW, after making 'contact' with referee James Brown. Numerous appeals have been rejected by the NSWRL the past few years - and Nean feels he has been hard done by.

    Seems harsh.

    It does seem harsh.

What we presumably do not know is how many other offences were committed previously/other aggravating factors.

And-while I do have sympathy-not being able to play a sport is not quite the same as going to prison...
