Research shows 'concerning' longevity gap that means a 40-year-old living in London today is set to live on average a DECADE longer than one in Glasgow The study examined the life expectancy for men and women across the country who are 40 years old today, and how many more years they are expected to live. While regions concentrated in London and the South East featured heavily on the list of the best areas for life expectancy, Glasgow - along with some cities in the North West, including Manchester and Liverpool - made up much of the bottom ten. For both men and women, London's boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Camden and Westminster were ranked the three best areas for life expectancy - in varying order. Glasgow City, meanwhile, ranked worst for both women and men.
