I've just started watching HAPPY VALLEY from the start........ I can't believe how I never knew how good it was!
To be honest me & the Mrs just thought it was a series about 'Old Fogeys' for 'Old Fogeys' .......How wrong we were. Best series since Line of Duty, and to be honest we prefer it to that.
Have I been transported back to the 1970s? Surely people either record 1 or both, or watch it on catch up...
I only posted this because it is absolute b0ll0cks. How can there be any battles these days? How can there possibly be a dilemma? How do they compile ratings these days? How can they possibly be accurate?
I havent watched any TV programme live for many years, with the exception of the odd bit of sport. Probably since I got the Q box, which allows you to record six programmes at a time. In my case I will probably record both, and watch them later. One real benefit of this is that you can fast forward through the adverts. No dilemma, and no battle in my case. I surely cant be alone.
This brings me on to one of my bugbears. All the TV channels sometimes release all episodes of some series on day one. At other times they release them one or two at a time. The one or two at a time seems to apply to their most popular series, for some reason. Some people may prefer to watch an eight episode series over eight weeks. I dont. If they released all episodes on day one, in every case, it would suit everyone. Those that wished to watch them over a period, as well as those that wish to watch the whole series over a couple of days. It doesnt affect them in any way. Just taking the BBC as an example. If they release all episodes day one, the programme still appears in the schedule, so they dont have to find a replacement. So what difference would it make, other than make everyone happy.
Sticking with the BBC for a minute. If you watch Silent Witness on Sky, you get one episode at a time. Yet if you go on the iplayer, both that weeks episodes are available on Monday morning. Having said that, I am not that keen on this series so far.

On that subject, she has never been fussed too much about Sussex Harry-until his latest programme/shameless book plug caused the cancellation of Midsomer Murders last Sunday...

The TV companies need to sort themselves out.
But-far more importantly-my Wife is a big fan.
