Consumer champion Which? found there was a stark difference when comparing the price of a basket of 41 common groceries between the UK's major stores. Aldi was named the cheapest supermarket in March, coming out £20 cheaper than Waitrose - the most expensive - but just 25p less expensive than its budget rival Lidl.
