    so is there other big tournies or things going on in vegas what is the standard of play in vegas tournies/cash like is it really soft and drunk americans giving their money away as they are in vegas for a stag do or is it full of card sharks and near unbeatable?

    I mean great if I win the tourney or whatever should I make it but looking at some of the names there I feel I would likely be an underdog in that field and even if not it one tourney so would want to try and get the vegas experience etc.
    and I dont know if that would be easy pickings or up against a load of total card sharks etc.

    well got to get there first but its still kind of relevant eg if its going to be a real tough field everywhere I am better doing other stuff in vegas like catching a show or etc, where as if it very soft I could rake in a nice profit.

    So really it is just working out how I would enjoy the experience, rather then saying I wouldnt.

    @Doubleme

    t's like anywhere else - a mixture of easy & tough. As a general rule, "tourists" are deemed to be easy meat rather than savvy locals, many of whom make their living preying on tourists.

    Rake & Reg Fees can be eye-watering - at Golden Nugget (Downtown) the rake % in MTT's averages 25% to 35% & 15% to 20% is commonplace. At the Venetian Deepstack Extravaganza reg fees average 15% on $500 Tourneys

    8. $78 of $500 Buy-In will be withheld for house fees (Rake + Staff) so $422 of the $500 goes towards the Prize Pool.

    If that sort of thing rankles though, best not to go. To sit & play in, say, Venetian Card Room is just about the most luxurious poker tourney experience in the world. Plush seating, auto-shufflers at every table, wall-to-wall plasma screens showing every sport imaginable 24/7, "Sports Books" (betting shops to you & me) as big as a football stadium. If you order food it arrives on a trolley with a tablecloth & linen napkin.

    There's a tremendous variety of Shows, decent tickets usually start at around $200 per person though you could probably get to see Donny Osmond in the cheap seats for around $100. An irresistible bargain, obv.

    NEVER go to Vegas without a decent wedge, it's a miserable place to be if you don't have a bit of cash to splash.

    thanks for that this confirms one thing if I do get lucky enough to win a package don't play cash unless I am joining a full table. the pros that may percieve me as easy money will likely be much better players then me so I would be playing a losing game. I think if the field is soft 15/20% rake should still be beatable but 25% to 35% is getting a bit ridic probs still beatable if field is soft enough. So basically if I am fortunate enough to make it out there I might play a few mtts but I would stay away from cash.

    Hi @Doubleme I would say the opposite I rarely play cash online or live here but in Vegas I can easily turn a profit.
    Play at any casino where the cash poker tables are on a main walkway I prefer the Venetian soft games and plenty table choice
    Play $1/$2 or $1/$3 games and pick a table with tourists or if there is plenty drinking going on.
    Dress to blend in with the tourists and most importantly get into the table talk and banter or you will get no action suggest a round of drinks same for everyone ,that gets things going then stay soberish (leave table for a pretend smoke and take drink with you) these guys dont care and save money and have fun by playing poker and drinking and are happy to lose $500 in a few hours than losing thousands playing table games.

    Yeah absolutely no way am I playing the lets try to act friendly to the weak players to keep them around. if you knew me well enough and knew my prior success rate with that and was at my table with the weak players you would probably try to wrestle me to the floor and gag me. Seriously I absolutely suck at playing that game they always pick up I think they easy pickings and usually always go away.

    If I find a good game the best cause of action for me would be to just be normal and do nothing different then normal for me and keep playing.
