    Action for Children chief executive Paul Carberry, 60, met the Princess of Wales - who is the charity's patron - last year. The £154,500-a-year boss also has a role on the Serious and Organised Taskforce in his native Scotland. As Strand Lead for Divert, he is responsible for diverting people from becoming involved in serious organised crime. But in 1979, aged 16, he stabbed John Murray, 21, five times and wounded another passenger. He said he had not spoken of his past out of respect for the victim and their family. Kate - who was not aware of his crimes - was pictured laughing with the ex-con when she met him at a primary school last year.
