Girl, 14, was left in tears after being handed a £100 fine by train inspectors who accused her of lying about her age to travel on child's ticket - despite her wearing her school uniform

Leila Sanger (pictured), who attends school in Gravesend, Kent, was stopped on May 25 as she changed trains at Strood to get to her home in nearby Snodland.

I never understand how or why this kind of thing makes the news. Then I remembered this is in the Mail and it will be fuelling the rage the readers have for snowflakes.

The school uniform was a clue.

16 and over is the adult ticket, with 16-18 yo often wearing school uniform.

A minor ticket dispute that will easily be reversed upon appeal isnt news. It's the Mail putting forward their usual angle about snowflakes, using the parent saying their child is now scared to go on public transport as the bait.

    Just to add to that.

Mother claims daughter is "traumatised" by the whole experience, and "scared" to use public transport.

Which does rather beg the question as to why the Mother thinks the best solution is to give her daughter nationwide coverage in a mass-market newspaper, and ensure her picture is there for all to see....
