The surgeries where 20,000+ patients compete to see ONE doctor: England's most overstretched GP practices REVEALED in an interactive map… so how does YOURS fare?
EXCLUSIVE: MailOnline uncovered one surgery dealing with more than 46,000 patients for every full-time, fully-qualified GP. This is up to 1,150 times more than at the country's quietest practices. In total, 4,843 of England's 6,400-plus GP surgeries exceed the safe threshold. Dwindling numbers of family doctors, combined with an ever-growing population, is central to why millions of patients struggle to get an appointment. Some have described it as being impossible to see a GP, with the 8am scramble to get a consultation compared to the huge rush to bag Glastonbury tickets. Ministers are under huge pressure to drastically recruit more GPs, with more than 6,000 needed to plug gaps in the overwhelmed system. In hope of easing the crisis, No10 has vowed to ease some of the bureaucratic demands placed on GPs and gave pharmacists special powers to dish out commonly-prescribed drugs.
I dont think where I live is anywhere near as bad as that but, if you want a doctors appointment in my area you have to get up early to ring them at 8am. their phone lines wont open until 8am and then its you cant get through you have to ring and ring and ring over and over again and keep trying and just really hope you can get through to someone. You will eventually but often when you do all appointments are gone for the day and they have a policy that you can only book appointments on the day. if you tried to ring them at 8.30am or later you have absolutely no chance all appointments are gone. They wont book for any other days its just try your luck tomorrow.
So if someone in my area has something very wrong they could possibly die whilst not getting an appointment.
good ol torries huh?
they pumped a load of money into the NHS but that is for their rich contractor friends not for doctors or funding the NHS.
you know the tories will win the next election though right?
