When asked a question by the interviewer, who do many sports people - especially footballers, jockeys & even Trainers - begin their reply with "yeah no"?

They usually say it to buy themselves a second or two extra, whilst they think which one of hundreds of 'stock answers' to respond with

As opposed to Politicians who say YES when the correct answer is NO?

I've only really heard it from Australians. From the Aussie I used to work with, it means "I understand but no".
