Etiquette on leaving a table

Hi all, been a while since I've posted here. Was curious about this question i've been thinking about recently. Sometimes when a table breaks I'm OK to continue playing heads up vs another reg if there aren't other tables I can/want to play. Other times I just decide I'm winding down the session or finding another table.

From force of habit I'll always just put sit out next big blind and never used to think much about it. But I noticed some other regs will instant sit out/leave without even playing the button which makes it fairer on the player that was maybe willing to continue to play (although it's often the case that both are wanting to just quit)

Curious what others do and if they've even thought about this before!

Without digging deep into everything you mentioned I think that the status quo where everyone just leaves the table when it starts to break, apart from 1 player, is probably not optimal compared to sitting out. For some reason, although I could be totally wrong, I reckon soft players are more inclined to join a table if there is 1 player sitting in and 1 or 2 sitting out rather than just 1 player sitting in.

It's obviously much deeper than that and I'm probably missing some important facet but I'm sure someone else will chime in.

When I used to play cash , £0.02/ £0.04, when a table started to break, I would usually instant quit as I preferred not to play with less than 6 at the table, unless there was a maniac at the table.
