    There were suggestions many years ago that this man was present at the tragic scene, but played no direct part in it. A decision was made many years ago, rightly or wrongly, that there was insufficient evidence for a charge/conviction.

    He is now dead. And unable to answer any of these allegations. He sounds like a rather sad individual.

    But trial by jury is not an option. Neither should trial by newspapers. Nor should adding to the grief of Mr Lawrence's family.
