Ministers relax visa rules for foreign bricklayers, roofers, carpenters and plasterers after Home Office deems there to be a 'shortage' of construction workers
The roofers would have been helpful earlier this year. Only cowboys are available within the next three months and the prices quoted are astronomical.
I paid £1400 quid for some repairs (bartered down from £3000) and it wasn't even a full day of work for two people and minimal parts.
Tip for batering down: ask them how long it will take and how many people, then ask them to confirm their day rate is X. They usually come down pretty quickly at that point.
Has Brexit helped me? I'm a joiner , a competent site one, mainly 1st and 2nd fixer i stay off roofing due to being on my own I've always had low pay but managed (just) through my working life, i think it's the area i live in imo When i was working with the old man he was constantly arguing about the money and we were constantly told that joiners were ten a penny take it or leave it I'm now in my mid fifties and over the last two years my income has shot up, I'm hoping my body holds out so I can carry on for a few years so I can make a bit to last until I pop me clogs cuz let's face it I'm working until i die So what dust reckon

I just said on the rent increases thread that it is becoming less, and less possible for many people to ever be able to retire.
