But the smugness that is Mr Negreanu misses out a very important 6th. Which is certainly in the top 3.
It is Rake. Which is insanely high. Suppose you enter MTTs which have an effective prize worth £1 million of your money. And suppose you are a better than average player, and get prizes of £1,050,000. Have you just won £50,000? No. If rake is 10%, you just lost £50,000, because you had to pay £100,000 in rake.
Some of the rake is inevitable. It costs money to run sites. They have to make a profit.
But a large amount goes on paying site pros. Not as much as before. But an awful lot to one Daniel Negreanu. And a large amount in freebies to entice players to the site.
The real reason many (if not most) "winning" players are actually losing players is the money gifted to Daniel Negreanu...
