Police who arrested a teenager after she said a female officer “looked like her **** nana” have been accused of a “callous overreaction”.

Footage posted online showed the 16-year-old being detained by seven officers at her home in Leeds, West Yorkshire, at around 1am on Monday.

Officers had driven the teenager home after her family told police she was “intoxicated in the city centre”.

She allegedly made the comment upon her return and was then dragged away screaming after being accused of homophobia by the force.

The incident was recorded by the girl’s mother who uploaded the footage to TikTok.

The mother posted: “This is what police do when dealing with autistic children. My daughter told me the police officer looked like her nana, who is a ****.

“The officer took it the wrong way and said it was a homophobic comment (it wasn’t).

“The officer then entered my home. My daughter was having panic attacks from being touched by them and they still continued to manhandle her.”

This sort of story makes me seethe. Mind you, I'm getting to the age where a lot makes me seethe :)

This mother has a 16-yr-old autistic child. With special needs. None of which appear to be met by her family.

You can't stop a 16-yr-old kid getting hammered in the town centre. But what you can do is go and get them, or arrange collection. Not involve the police, and use them as some sort of taxi service. Not because it is a waste of taxpayers money. Because it involves placing your autistic child in a stressful situation.

Don't then start seeking attention on social media. Not because it makes me think that you are a horrid, shallow person. Because it is not in the best interests of your 16-yr-old child.

PS-there is more to this story. There were 7 officers present. There would normally be either 1 or 2. This had clearly already been prioritised as a situation involving considerable additional risk to either the child or the officers.

    I agree.

The picture in the article also annoys me.

Can't put up a photo of the child. Can't do the Mother-because that would cause the child to be identifiable. But why put up a picture of the Police Officer? And why include the creator's name under the photo (on the main story) as that clearly identifies the mother, and therefore the child?

Why does this mother feel the need to increase her profile/followers by damaging her own child?

Thought Tory MPs were supposed to uphold law & order. Even ones as dim as Andrea Jenkyns.

    Impossible to get any dimmer.

A high bar, admittedly. But her husband must be a contender.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Lopresti

He has been standing for Tory jobs for 28 years. He has been an MP for 13 years.

Look at his wiki page. And think about what you know about him.
It's not the scandals. It's not his marital activities. It's not even his treatment of staff or anything else that is there. Because lots of MPs, on all sides, get embroiled in that sort of stuff.

He has been an MP for 13 years. He has never held any office whatsoever under any of the 5 PMs and countless reshuffles since.

I cannot recall a single thing he is ever said about politics. And, judging by the internet, neither can anyone else.

She could have starred in The Curse.
