I sent off my meter readings today, and have been notified of the charges for last month. I am unable to uderstand the gas charges. Specifically the meter readings appear to show that we have used almost exactly half the units in December, that we used in November. Yet we have been charged more for December. Could you please explain.

I am trying to make sense of this. The electricity bill seems to add up, but the gas doesnt. What am I missing? The meter reading for electricity for last month showed a difference of 170, and the bill was for 170 kWh, so that makes complete sense. Yet the difference in the gas meter reading was 88, but this apparently relates to 2,737 kWh of usage. How do you get 2,737, from 88? The standing charge for both is now almost £30 per month.
