I have watched previous documentaries based on the Jill Dando murder.
This one didnt seem to offer anything new.
The only things that it confirmed to me is.
1 the police have never had a clue who did it.
2 The SIO is deluded as he is one of the very few people in the world that still thinks Barry George did it.
3 This would be remarkable as she was killed by a contact wound to her head, and Barry George didnt get one drop of blood on the coat he was wearing.

I haven't watched the documentary. Does it cover the theory that Dando killed because was about to go public with information about Savile and/or possibly more widespread allegations about others in the public eye?

    No.
The SIO seems to have made his mind up that a lunatic, loner was responsible.
    Barry George fitted the bill.
He thinks he got his man, and was sticking to that at the end of the documentary, 24 years later.
The only real evidence they had was one particle of gun shot residue found in Barry Georges coat.
They were satisfied that this was the coat he was wearing as it matched the description given by a witness.
However a reporter who had decided to help him went to the USA, spoke to the FBI, and other experts.
It was thought that the proof that he uncovered about the unreliability of this evidence, got Barry George off at the retrial.
As I said above, despite the fact that she suffered a contact wound to her head, there was not even one drop of blood on his coat.
Other stuff that they claimed was evidence, were a photo that showed a man wearing a gas mask and holding a gun that could have fired the bullet found at the scene, and a number of photos of Jill Dando in various newspapers, and magazines found in his flat.
He claimed that it wasnt him in the photo, which was difficult to prove as he was wearing a gasmask.
As for the newspapers, and magazines, his flat was a disgrace, he never threw anything out, they found bin bags that had been there for years, as well as loads of newpapers and magazines.
During the period following her murder it would be hard to imagine that any hoarder wouldnt have a large number of Jill Dando articles/photos.
It is a really baffling mystery.
She was living with her fiance, and only visited her own home once in a blue moon.
The walk from her gate to her front door was around 5 paces.
So how could the perpetrator shoot her at her front door.
He couldnt have been lying in wait, because nobody knew when she would visit her home.
The bullet that killed her was homemade.
It is hard to imagine that he would have had access to the tools or expertise to make the bullet, or knew anyone that was capable of doing so.
There was a Serbian connection to the bullet, and a reporter was executed over there 11 days before the Dando murder.
They ruled out a Serbian connection fairly quickly.

There was a sweaty man at the nearby bus stop that they never traced.
There was a Range Rover that left the scene quickly around the time of the murder.
The driver drove off while a Traffic Warden was in the process of giving him a ticket.
It was surprising that they didnt trace the Range Rover, as there was plenty of CCTV in the area.
I think they said that there were 190 camera in the area.
They were able to follow her on CCTV that day, from her fiances house to her home, and could say categorically that she wasnt followed.
    Its a mystery.
