The heart-stopping moment I chased and confronted a wife murderer... But why did it take 45 years for the police to nail him?
ISLA TRAQUAIR: On July 14, 1978 - two years before I was even born - Dr Brenda Page, a brilliant geneticist involved in medical research, was murdered by biologist Dr Christopher 'Kit' Harrisson, the violent husband she had summoned up the strength to divorce. Painting over the windows in her new flat in Aberdeen did not save her. The police investigating found 16 marks on a window frame where it had been forced open, probably with a crowbar. She was just 32 when she was found on her bed, in a pool of blood, bludgeoned to death, her hands and wrists a mass of defence injuries. I was in court earlier this year, in my native Aberdeen, to hear how Harrisson made her life **** before he killed her for daring to leave him. He was the only suspect in the case. Why had it taken an extraordinary 45 years for him to be brought to justice?
D.N.A. and it's advances over the years is used to solve Cold Cases linking the Murderer to the crime. Probably not any use in this case being Husband & Wife his would have been all over her and the house.
