To be fair, it's the red top media that have been trying to whip up the frenzy, the Met Office weather reports have been accurate, as they invariably are these days.

So studying for a maths degree in my final year I have seen a mathematical proof that proofs it is literally impossible to predict the weather to 100% accuracy that been said I did not understand the proof and still do not.
I do know though that people much more able at maths and knowledgeable then myself have done this. Hence when the weather forecast says there is a 90% chance of rain it means 90% chance of rain not 100%.
I am pretty sure if someone did a statistics test on all there prior predictions with percentages they would find the weather forecasts are actually highly accurate.
A lot of people say the pollsters got it wrong on Trump vs Hillary and Brexit. again they never said there is 100% chance of a Clinton victory or 100% of the remain vote winning.
I am not so sure if Pollsters would do as well as the weatherman if we did a statistics test, but one thing that irks me is when people see a probability >50% and assume that this means it is 100% and if the event does not happen now the predictor was wrong.
They've been warning about this for 2 weeks. Still nothing. About as accurate and reliable as a YouGov exit poll.
In winter's icy grip: Met Office map shows where snow and ice will hit Britain TODAY as temperatures drop as low as -12C - as 'major incident' is declared in Cumbria and up to SIX INCHES of snow set to fall
