CNN’s Dr. Jonathan Reiner isn’t buying Donald Trump’s repeated claims about acing a cognitive test.
The former president has insisted that the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) ― aka the infamous “Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV.” test he took in 2020, when he was president ― was “difficult.”
Reiner stepped in with a fact-check on Sunday.
“If you think a dementia screening test is very difficult, you may have early dementia,” Reiner, who is director of cardiac catheterization laboratories at George Washington University, wrote on X:
Trump has repeatedly insisted that the test is very hard, and earlier this month claimed it contains advanced math such as “multiply 3,293 times 4, divide by 3.”
It does not, as can be seen on a sample test here.
The test was created to help doctors detect the warning signs of the cognitive impairments that can lead to dementia.
“It is supposed to be easy for someone who has no cognitive impairment,” Dr. Ziad Nasreddine, who developed the test, told MarketWatch in 2020.
Yet Trump has constantly claimed otherwise.
“It’s not easy!” he told supporters on Saturday, saying only 2 percent of his followers could pass it.
Donald Trump given harsh reality check after warning US on brink of new world war
Trump told supporters over the weekend: "I hate to tell you this about NATO — if we ever needed their help, let’s say we were attacked, I don’t believe they’d be there." He added: "We’re paying for NATO and we don’t get so much out of it."
Trump was also vocal about the attack against US troops, claiming: "This brazen attack on the United States is yet another horrific and tragic consequence of Joe Biden’s weakness and surrender."
However, an ex-Air Force General slammed the 45th President on social media.
Michael Hayden, who also previously served as chief of the CIA, said: "NATO came to our rescue after 9-11. You fool. You fool."
Roberta Kaplan, the attorney for writer E. Jean Carroll, answered the questions on everyone’s lips after a jury last week ordered former President Donald Trump to pay her client $83.3 million in damages for defamation.
During an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Friday, Kaplan said she fully expected Trump will have to pony up the money even if he does, as he has vowed, appeal the ruling.
Cooper suggested Trump may declare bankruptcy to wriggle out of making the payment. Last year, the Republican 2024 front-runner was ordered to pay Carroll $5 million after a jury found him liable for defamation and sexual abuse after Carroll accused him of raping her in a department store in the 1990s.
Carroll will “completely” get the money, predicted Kaplan.
“I think he’s going to have to pay and whether it requires him to sell something or to put a lien on something to get a loan, that’s his problem, not ours,” she added. “He’s going to pay.”
Cooper also asked Kaplan if Trump could face another civil lawsuit if he continues to defame Carroll. “I’m too good of a lawyer to tell you that but everything is on the table,” Kaplan answered.
Trump “should be on notice” over what he says about Carroll going forward, she added. And “if he keeps saying it, it could cost him a lot more money,” Kaplan warned.
Lawrence O’Donnell Makes Bold Prediction About Looming Trump 'Bankruptcy'
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell said Donald Trump could be “on his way to bankruptcy,” and not just because of the nearly $90 million he owes E. Jean Carroll after two court judgements.
“That could be the smallest debt Donald Trump owes,” O’Donnell said on Monday night, pointing out that New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking $370 million in the civil fraud case against the former president.
And that’s not all,” O’Donnell said. “There are much bigger possible judgements coming. Washington, D.C. juries could make that New York number look small if they return verdicts against Donald Trump in the civil cases brought against him by 11 members of the House of Representatives.”
Those members, O’Donnell said, are suing “for in effect threatening their lives on Jan. 6 by sending his mob to the Capitol.”
Three police officers are also suing over Jan. 6, he added, and each case could result in “hundreds of millions of dollars” from Trump.
Trump could end up with $1 billion or more in judgements against him in the coming years, making the $90 million he owes Carroll “just be the beginning of Donald Trump’s collapse into bankruptcy,” O’Donnell said.
Investors look to the future. Big business tends (rightly or wrongly) to favour Republican over Democrat, much like Conservatives over Labour. I'm not saying they should-just that they do.
Trump comes with a lot of baggage. But so does Biden. What both of them will do is provide massive fiscal support to US industry.
The UK stock market will increasingly move in accordance with how it views the near-inevitable next Labour Govt. And less on the current lot, who will increasingly be seen as an irrelevance in Stock Market terms. Together with a fear that the Conservatives might lurch to the Right and/or be replaced by Tice/Farage

I suppose you could put forward any number of reasons for the current state of the stock market. Trump cant have it both ways.
1. Natural-born citizen of USA 2. Over 35 years old 3. Resided in US for 14 years
Can be bankrupt. In prison. Sex offender.
There's a chance that Trump could meet all of those criteria.
I chose those words thinking exactly that.
The UK has a different approach. Only need to be 18, and from the Commonwealth. Do need to be an MP, which means cannot be a current Bankrupt (technically, someone with a Bankruptcy Restrictions Order or a Debt Relief Restrictions Order). Also cannot be currently a Civil Servant, in Police or Armed Forces
However, can be in prison-for example, when Bobby Sands was elected. Stops leaders imprisoning Opposition, as happens in other countries.

This is why the former president mentions his dementia testing every day.

The markets are far more influenced by likely short-term future trends than the present. It is trying to be ahead of the game.

He was wrong in 2020. But he's likely not wrong now.
What I find more incredible is the necessary qualifications to be President. There are only 3:-
1. Natural-born citizen of USA
2. Over 35 years old
3. Resided in US for 14 years
That's it. Can be bankrupt. In prison. Sex offender. All sorts.
