Royal Mail has said it will increase the price of stamps again next month. The troubled delivery giant said the price of first-class stamps will increase by 10p to £1.35 and second-class stamps will increase by 10p to 85p.

A year ago, a first-class stamp cost 95p before being hiked to £1.10 in April 2023, before another 15p increase in October last year.

Never thought I’d use the words “cool” and “mobility scooter” in one sentence.
Mobility scooters aren’t exactly what a lot of us would consider “cool,” as they’re tools designed to improve the quality of life of elderly individuals and those with limited abilities. But a company by the name of Avvenire wants to start a mobility scooter revolution.

Looking like a prop from a sci-fi movie, the Tectus could very well be the most badass mobility scooter out there. Featuring an enclosed cabin complete with AC and heating, and fancy options like a backup camera, GPS tracking, and even wireless charging, the Tectus levels up the practicality. The company, Avvenire, even fitted the machine with a modular rear end, allowing for expanded cargo options.

Only down side ..... Some Yob will want to push it over. !

‘A clash of cultures’: Irish opinion split over Travellers’ elaborate headstones

  • goldongoldon Member Posts: 9,141
Marble tablets express bereavement in gold letters, a photo of the deceased gazes from a carved stone bench and lanterns with diamond-shaped bulbs and electric sensors flank the central slab.

It is the headstone of a beloved wife and mother – and the latest flashpoint in a dispute over aesthetics, culture and tolerance that has split public opinion in Ireland.

Members of the Traveller community have in recent years erected large, elaborate headstones that, depending on perspective, are moving testaments to grief and loss or garish spectacles of one-upmanship.
Some sprout flags and have fake jukeboxes, others have marble depictions of vehicles, football jerseys, pets, beer bottles, boxing gloves and dartboards.

Such displays were expressions of love from a marginalised community with shockingly high mortality rates, said Martin Collins, a co-director of Pavee Point, that represents Travellers and Roma. “They are remembering the person who has just passed. It really is important that Travellers are seen to be given a good sendoff. It’s not a materialistic thing, it’s a very religious, holy thing.”

Florida will ban thousands of homeless people from setting up camp or sleeping on public property under a bill lawmakers sent to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who supports the idea.

Counties, with approval from the state Department of Children and Families, would be able to designate areas for the homeless to camp for up to a year under the bill the Senate passed 27-12 late Tuesday. Anyone using those encampments would be prohibited from using alcohol or illegal drugs.

Down & Outs in Florida....Nick Nolte

Problem that won't go away. We have three in shop doorways in the Town Centre, how they've not froze to death god only knows.... Shops turn their heating off at night to get rid. Charity shop has notice on door telling people not to leave clothes & items while closed as they become beds for the night for Tramps . So how is Florida going to police.

They gonna fine them thousands of dollars .... put them in Prison. Don't think so.!

Move them on .... hose them down.... set fire to them....Mm!

Here we have it UK style.....

A police officer who was filmed dragging a homeless man across the ground in a sleeping bag is to have her punishment reviewed.

The video of the Greater Manchester Police officer, which was filmed near the Town Hall, then shows her stepping on the man’s stomach as he lies on the pavement.
