Who won what, Sunday 10th March. Powerpok3r wins the Major after nine near-misses

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 160,264

Morning.

This day last year

"After a really solid weekend, MTT numbers were on the thin side, with both the Main & Mini missing guarantee. Monday's are usually poor, but there was virtually no domestic football last night, which I thought might help us. Maybe folks are saving their pennies for Cheltenham.

It was @Natnug that took the Main, & to be honest, I've run out of things to say about him, he's just a machine. Rather impressively, he not only won Sky Poker's Main last night, he did the same over on i-Poker, where he won The Daily Sweat. Two Mains in one night, ridiculous.

@THETANK tracked to victory in the Mini. He plays smaller these days, but in his pomp, around 10 years ago, he won a lot of big stuff, & I well recall commentating on the TV Channel the night he won the £10,000 Primo. Quite a Top 4 in that one, 1st was @THETANK 2nd was @devil_tear 3rd was @StayOrGo & 4th @MacMonster. That was 10 years ago & the Top 4 are still all here as far as I'm aware. For all the faults Sky Poker has it still seems to generate great loyalty among it's core player base.

@lukeylund9 has been quietly doing rather nicely of late & been flying under the radar somewhat. On Sunday he won 7 @ 7 & was 4th in 9 @ 9, last night he won the £1k BH, was 4th in the Mini & 5th in a £500 BH. Probably one to add to the notebook.

In the 7 @ 7 @spearsy136 was perhaps a little unlucky when Heads Up to bump into the impressive @PaulDenner who took the win. Has an impressive CV which includes that he has won both Avenger Main & Avenger Mini, a very rare double indeed.

9 @ 9 went to @givemequid, an alias which is a sort of modest version of "I wont million". A house point to anyone who can remember the alias of "I wont million" man.

@Pogue909 has run into form, on Sunday he was 2nd in the £1k Rebuy, last night he won Reload.

@ra1d who won Gold Rush Main last month had a lovely late night double, winning both Turbo & MidEx, with @Jessieak the meat in the sandwich by winning Quickdraw."

MTT traffic was pretty solid, with notable over-performance in the £1k Rebuy BH which hit a surprising£1,800, & the £1k Quickdraw not far behind at £1,740. In both cases there numbers are very much top of their range.

@PowerPok3r won the Major. Played just 4 MTT's in the last 10 days, all of them £110 events - two x Majors & 2 x BWBH. Prior to last night he's never won a Major but had finished 2nd 5 times & 3rd 4 times, so I think he was due the win. Best result lifetime was 4th in an Online SPT in 2021 for close on £4,500. Runner-up was @gobbleoff who did it the hard way, winning a £5.20 sat, then a £24 sat, before running 2nd in the real thing for just shy of £2,000. That's quite a step up from the £320 he collected for winning Reload 10 days earlier. @steveysee did well too, winning his seat in the Sunday Major Freeroll last night then finishing 5th for £769. Other finalists were @Sharki0 (3rd) @tonyp142 (4th) & @loosecamel (6th).

The Mini might sound a lot easier to win, but that's far from true, last night there was a super-tough FT, with the win going to @destinycod with @Glenelg 2nd, @StayOrGo 3rd & @Thoich 4th.

The £6k BH, often referred to as the "Sunday Main" (I've no idea why) went to @BeachBody. It was his 2nd best result all-time, beaten only by by third for £1,500 in a 2021 boomlet Major. It was good to see @MrDooWop (4th) back in the thread, having been runner-up in Saturday night's MidEx.

@MARK277 is in splendid form & won the opening £1k BH for the third time in three weeks - 20th Feb, 4th March & 10th March. Won the Mini Sharpshooter two weeks ago too. Won last week's MML too, so he gets a free £33 entry. Quite right too.

@thedazzman won 7 @ 7 for the third time, almost exactly a month since last winning it.

Big-hitter @Tedson is the new Sheriff. Runner-up was @NChanning who I'm not sure we'll see much of this week, as it's his busiest week of the year thanks to Cheltenham. Being a professional punter sounds like a dream job, & maybe it is, but during Cheltenham week i know he is up at 3am every morning to study form, make his selections & recommendations & then get them written up & published for BettingEmporium.com not to mention getting his bets on. I've no idea how much he stakes during the Cheltenham Festival, & although I know him very well & we get on great, it would be impudent to ask him. Bet it's a good few grand though.

9 @ 9 went to @Upswing, who also won a Sunday Major seat in a Frenzy, though I don't believe he actually played it.

@Lee_Boy, three times a Mini winner, as well as 2nd in a UKOPS, took the MidEx.

It's gonna be a crazy week of horse racing. Hopefully might play the odd tournament in between but think I could be asleep before most of them get going. It's a shame really as one bloke was giving free lessons in the chat box all night and I really wanted to play now I've got all the answers.

Would love to play more here. Sadly the only 11-22 buy in, non bounty, is on a Sunday!
I have every so often played the 5.50 bounty Friday, but that is more for bingo! and now I have found a non bounty elsewhere, I will play that instead.

to be fair, we have all been there done that, as you well explained, sky poker customers want bounties, and only bounties.
However, the site is a self fulfilling prophecy. If all you offer is bounties, the only customers you will get is those to play bounties.

Consider - Monday to Saturday; not one main event, or mini main event non bounty is offered in after work hours, so it makes there is nobody here who wants to play standard tournaments.

It is what is, it has been this way for years now. it blows my mind not even 1 per day, or 1 extra per week can be offered.
and for me personally it is a shame, sky poker plays closer to live poker than any other site.

    ......
keep up the great work with this "winners" blog, I do not know any other site that does this. it is genuinely cool

Thank you very much for the kind comments about the Results Thread, much appreciated.

The BH thing is a bit of a problem, as we both know. Last night was typical, all the BH's did well. There were just two vanillas. the Major, which fell over the line by 2 entries (& let's not forget, 3 seats per day for 7 days are given away to it in the Sunday Major Freeroll, so that means about 17.5% of the field get a free seat), & the Mini Major, which missed yet again, as it almost always does.

Having said all that, keep checking in, as nothing lasts for ever, & it would not surprise me one iota if the situation changed in the next 12 to 18 months.

Yes would be good to have more standard tournaments. And regarding Your mention of the majority just falling over the line in terms of players for the Sunday Major @Tikay10 I think someone else has mentioned before having satellites midweek which would be great.Im not usually a weekend player, but would like to play the major more often and having to qualify means playing most of the afternoon. Although too many qualifiers may dilute the quality and it's nice to play against better players. And sometimes easier! Less chance of a bad beat. Congratulations to @Powerpok3r btw. Makes me feel better that he's had so many close calls so probably deserved. I had him beat at one point with 3 jacks but he called and rivered the flush.
