    Guehi for Gomez
    Gallagher for TAA

Think that is the safe team for 1st game.

    Chuffin autocorrect...

    Foden of course!

    @Essexphil

I'll accept my Liverpool bias influenced Gomez inclusion so yes maybe Guehi...both have had an exceptional season BUT

can't take Gallagher for TAA...you must be a Chelsea blue- I had you down for a spurs fan?! 🤡

Connor Gallagher ahead of TAA for me. Gallagher is consistent whereas TAA is really good when he's on it but bang average otherwise.

Gomez / Guehi ?. Guehi inspires more confidence in me right now.

    Pickford
    Walker
    Stones
    Guehi
    Trippier
    Gallagher
    Rice
    Bellingham
    Sako
    Kane
    Foden

Who is likely to provide a turning point/pass/move which would make the difference?...TAA or Gallagher? Gotta be Trent, surely?

Any of them tbh. I think we are blessed with creative talent, maybe even too much.

I don't want England to develop the really creative mentality of say Arsenal, when they overplay in order to score the perfect goal and bomb several chances a game.

Occasionally work rate counts and there with Declan rice supporting, Gallagher has the edge over Trent.

Horses for courses though and I think that TAA will get plenty of game time. However, I feel that Serbia may be somewhat agricultural in their approach to dealing with Englands midfield and CG is more suited to that environment.

    Just a personal opinion.

The best eleven for the Group Stages isn't necessarily the best 11 later on.

The 11 I selected is what I believe will be the 11 for the first game. And, if we win that, will be easy to start changing things as matters progress.

Injuries always change things. But, disregarding them I believe a quarter final line up would be:-

    Shaw or Gomez for Trippier
    TAA or Mainoo for Gallagher

I would never lay England to lose. But may well be good odds to do so at Quarters or Semis

Still, gotta get past Iceland first?( thankfully doesn't count, apart from momentum and confidence...)

So I'm not English, and I'm probably slightly biased as an Everton fan, but I can't believe Branthwaite isn't in the 1st team, never mind the squad.

My England team would have been:

    Pickford
    Walker
    Stones
    Branthwaite
    Trippier
    Rice
    Bellingham
    Foden
    Saka
    Palmer
    Kane

England's strengths are going forward, so they need to use them; unfortunately for England (and fortunately for me as a non-Englishman) they have a really poor coach who holds back a very talented squad.

@Toffeeandy hmmm...I considered long and hard whether to have Foden or Palmer- went with Phil the haircut , possibly due to experience of the big(ger) games with Citeeee

However, reflecting I agree with your front 6, which can fit them both in!

    Who are you supporting?💩

Looking at that team reminds me of Spurs when Ossie Ardiles was our Manager. And we played with 5 forwards, and were Drawing 4-4, losing 4-5 and the like.

Ardiles, much like Klopp, had an English sense of humour. There were rumours swirling that he was going to be sacked.

At a Press Conference, he said that it was not his fault. He was in charge of the Attack, and Asst Manager Steve Perryman was in charge of the Defence. So, he said, it was all Perryman's fault. Although Mr Perryman did keep asking if it would be possible to have more than 2 players...

I'll be supporting Scotland for our 3 games and then once we're out I'll be rooting for whoever England are playing. ;)

Not so sure Scotland are necessarily going out after 3 games.

Germany are notoriously slow starters to tournaments and were absolutely awful against Poland.

Switzerland are not as strong as they used to be. Take out Shakiri and Xhaka and they look ordinary.

Hungary are no world beaters either.

I think you can find 3 or even 4 points from your games, a lot depends on which Scotland turn up. If it's the "just happy to be here" Scotland you're on the plane home after the first 3 games, a la Argentina 78

On the other hand, if the real Scotland show up round of 16 is a possibility, then anything can happen.
